Rod Stewart 'can't wait' for the Faces reunion

Rod Stewart ''can't wait'' for the Faces reunion.
The musician is excited about joining forces with his former bandmates, who hired Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall as vocals following their return in 2009 after Rod opted out, because he thinks it will be ''genius'' when the original members to perform together again.
The 68-year-old rocker also thinks the band - initially comprised of former Small Faces members Ian McLagan, Ronnie Lane and Kenney Jones with The Jeff Beck Group's Rod and Ronnie Wood - have ''nostalgic'' reasons to reunite, especially after Lane's death in 1997.
Rod said: ''I want to sing with my old mates again. In fact, I'd like to see a reunion of the Jeff Beck Group and the Faces. What a bill. That's a genius idea.
''We've all got to realise we'll be getting together for the sake of nostalgia. We lost Ronnie Lane to multiple sclerosis, and Ronnie Wood is now clean, but he's as funny and sharp-witted as he always was. I can't wait. I love every minute of being up there.''
Rod looks back at his time in the Faces with great fondness and loves how ''vulnerable'' they use to be.
He added to website Telegraph.co.uk: ''You never knew what was going to happen on stage. We used to like having what we called nasty accidents.
''I think any entertainer has to have an element of vulnerability about them, so when something goes wrong, I love it.
''I see pictures of us now in a big heap, the way footballers jump on top of each other after a goal, and it wasn't the end of the show, this could be half way through. We were all so wonderfully drunk.''
Rod is set to release his first new material in 20 years, 'Time', on May 6.
