Acknowledgements to Andy Johns by some rock stars in relation to his death. Although the members of Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin who worked with Andy Johns have not yet publicly commented on his passing, several other music stars went on Twitter to express their condolences.
Here is a summary of many of those comments:
Brian May (Queen guitarist): "Ouch. So sad to hear of the passing of Andy Johns … great record producer. Lovely guy - patient, skilled, funny, encouraging, sharp ... all the qualities you want in someone who is getting your music on to tape. I remember him as one of the Olympic Studios team in Barnes … playing around with varying tape speeds and early phasing … with George Chiantz. He went on to become one of the very top rock producers in the world. Condolences to all the family. Andy was such a great guy. RIP"

He recorded the horns for us on 'What A Shame' with Bobby Keys and Jim Price, in London back in the day. Unfortunately the 'powers that be' never released that version. That was a 'shame'. I was really upset. He was fantastic to work with and I always wanted to work with him again. Our thoughts are with his family and friends."
