Good Friday – 25 March 2016 is a date that will go down in Cuban and Rock ‘n’ Roll history. On that date, The Rolling Stones became the first rock band to play a massive free outdoor concert to hundreds of thousands in Havana, Cuba. The historic concert was filmed by award winning director Paul Dugdale and the result is a must see one night only cinema experience – ‘HAVANA MOON’ – The Rolling Stones Live in Cuba will be premiered on cinema screens across the globe for one night only on Friday 23 September 2016.
Musicscreen, who specialize in bringing music concerts to cinema, are distributing this film to more than thousand screens throughout Europe, Australia, Russia, Japan and Latin America. CEO David Pope commented: “The Havana Moon cinema experience immerses the audience in fantastic surround sound with super high definition visuals, it is the closest you will get to being there, don’t miss it!”
Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of August available from www.stonesincuba.com.
The British rockers highly anticipated free show attracted a million people in the country’s capital city in the same week as President Obama became the first serving US President to visit Cuba in 88 years. TV News reported that Obama was ‘the warm up act’ for the Rolling Stones and Obama paid tribute to the Stones in his first speech to the world’s media in Havana. As the Stones took to the stage under a perfect ‘Havana Moon’ for a show that will forever go down in history books as a life changing moment for a country on the brink of change, there was nothing that was going to come between the band and their fans including the Vatican in Rome who had objected to rock n roll in Havana on Good Friday.
Mick Jagger welcomed the massive crowd who had come to watch the historic show: “Finally the times are changing, Cuba we are so happy to be here.” and joked with his bandmates during the performance describing them as  “The Revolutionary Ronnie Wood…Charlie Che Watts….Compadre Keith Richards”
They played all the hits including ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’, ‘It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Honky Tonk Women’, ‘Start Me Up’, ‘Brown Sugar’, You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ and ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ and a few suprises too.
As one Cuban said, “Wow never, ever, ever did I think we would see this. This has been a big dream for me. We want more, more, more of this. This is the beginning. Fantastico”
Another concert goer said: “This is a moment I have been dreaming about for a really long time. I have just witnessed the most important concert in Cuba in a long time because it’s The Rolling Stones.”
Now, the magic and excitement of that historic night can be enjoyed as part of a cinema audience – in surround sound and on the big screen – for one night only at an exclusive cinema event on 23 September.
The Stones film Havana Moon will transport cinemagoers onto and out front of the Rolling Stones gigantic stage and immerse them in the excitement of that groundbreaking night in Havana. The title Havana Moon comes from an old Chuck Berry song.

Keith Richards dismisses The Beatles as a live band...

Keith Richards doesn't think The Beatles were a great live band.
The 72-year-old guitarist appreciates the music of The Fab Four, the 60s rock rivals of his group The Rolling Stones, but doesn't think they ever nailed it on stage.
The Beatles - comprised of Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the late John Lennon and George Harrison - quit playing live at the height of 'Beatlemania' in 1966, citing the inability to be able to heart themselves play due to the screams of their female fans as the reason for them walking away from the stage.
In an interview with Radio Times magazine, he said: ''Musically, The Beatles had a lovely sound and great songs. But the live thing? They were never quite there.''
Keith has also opened up about his friendship with The Beatles but the hellraiser made the decision to exclude them from his inner circle after they started to practice transcendental meditation and spiritualism with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1967.
The 'Brown Sugar' rocker decided early on that he thought the Indian guru was a ''f***ing operator'' and thinks the four guys latched onto him as a way of trying to cope with their global fame.
Speaking about the Maharishi, Keith said: ''He was a f***ing operator, a sucker job. But you have to think, what had being The Beatles done to The Beatles? They wanted somebody else to take them away. They didn't want to be God any more, so they plugged it all onto the Maharishi.''
Keith is the star of a new BBC Two documentary, 'Keith Richards: The Origin Of The Species', which will be aired on 9pm on Saturday (23.07.16).
The programme explores Keith's childhood growing up in post-World War II Kent and has been directed by Julien Temple whose previous work includes 1950s drama 'Absolute Beginners' - which starred the late David Bowie - and The Sex Pistols film 'The Great Rock & Roll Swindle'.
This is not the first time Keith has taken a swipe at The Beatles.
He previously dismissed their acclaimed 1967 album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' as ''a load of s**t''
He said: ''Some people think it's a genius album, but I think it's a mishmash of rubbish, kind of like, 'Oh, if you can make a load of s**t, so can we.'
''The
Beatles sounded great when they were The Beatles. But there's not a lot of roots in that music. I think they got carried away. Why not? If you're The Beatles in the '60s, you just get carried away - you forget what it is you wanted to do.''

Keith Richards believes his mother killed his cat...

Keith Richards believes his mother drowned his pet cat.
The 72-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist has revealed, as a child, he developed a real love of animals, but his late mother Doris was not a fan of pets in their home.
Keith had a pet mouse and a cat and to this day he is convinced his mum sent his beloved pussy to a watery grave.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, the 'Gimme Shelter' rocker said: ''It must have been p***ing her off more than I realised. She just said, 'It's gone away.' I did a painting of the cat and wrote MURDERER under it and put it on her door. I called it Gladys. It was a traumatic time.''
Despite the trauma, Keith is still a big animal lover and continues to keep dogs but two of his canine pals have died.
The musician - who now has two mutts - said: ''At the moment I only have two, because two died. They reached the end of their string; and they looked at me and said, I'm leaving now.' I did love them.
''You know, you cuddle up if you find yourself alone or whatever.''
The Rolling Stone guitarist believes that pets are a natural addition to a home and that they give him a healthy sense of space and time.
He explained: ''I've always thought animals are a natural part of a house. But you also have to know that ... I mean, you know me, I'm going to hang on forever! But you need to know, 'I'm going to see this pup die.' It gives you a sense of space and time.''
Keith and his mother Doris were very close throughout his life and he can remember vividly the moment she died and his struggle to come up with something poignant to say to her.
Recalling her passing: ''She said, 'Why me Keith?' And I said, 'You're 93, Mum.' That was the best line I could come up with. And she said, 'This morphine's not bad, you know. And those were her last words to me.''
Keith is the star of a new BBC Two documentary, 'Keith Richards: The Origin Of The Species', which will be aired on 9pm on Saturday (23.07.16) about his life growing up in post-World War II Kent with his mother and father Herbert.

Mick Jagger To Be A Dad Again At 72 - Report...

Mick Jagger  is preparing for fatherhood at the age of 72 - his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick is reportedly pregnant.

The American ballet dancer, 29, has been dating the Rolling Stones Frontman for the past two years, and now sources tell U.K. newspaper The Sun she is about three months pregnant with their first child together.
The insider says the couple is "surprised and happy" for the impending arrival, adding Mick isn't "fazed" by the baby news, even though the little one will be his eighth child.
"He's been incredibly supportive," the source tells The Sun. "She's very bright, intelligent, sparky and has her own ideas about how she wants to lead her life. She knows what a great relationship Mick has with all of his children and can't wait for him to be a dad again. They are taking the news in their stride."
Mick and Melanie first sparked romance rumours in June, 2014, just three months after his fashion designer girlfriend L'Wren Scott committed suicide.
At the time, the rocker was photographed on a hotel balcony in Switzerland with the ballerina and they have been seeing each other regularly ever since.
While the baby will be Melanie's first, Mick has seven children with four other women, including four kids with his former longtime partner, supermodel Jerry Hall.
Mick's surprising baby news comes just two months after his bandmate, 68-year-old Ronnie Wood, welcomed twin girls with his theatre producer wife Sally Humphreys.
Wood has four adult children from his previous two marriages to the late Krissy Findlay and Jo Wood. Sally, who is 30 years his junior, wed Ronnie in 2012 after a whirlwind six-month romance.

12th July 1962, The Rolling Stones’ First Ever Gig...

During the late spring and early summer of 1962 Mick Jagger and Keith Richards would catch the train from Dartford to London, where they nurtured dreams of forming a blues band.
They always visited the Marquee Club on Oxford Street where Mick, on a few occasions, sat in to sing a few blues songs with Alexis Korner’s Blues Incorporated. Playing drums with Alexis was one Charlie Watts.
Brian Jones, Ian Stewart, Mick and Keith along with whoever else they could find to play some Rhythm & Blues were soon rehearsing a set of favourites at The Bricklayers Arms Pub in Soho’s Broadwick Street, just a stone’s throw away from Oxford Street.
Their luck changed when The Blues Incorporated were offered a slot on BBC Radio’s Jazz Club programme on 12th July 1962, so the Marquee’s owner, Harold Pendleton booked this new four piece band to deputize for Korner’s group on this historic night.
Needing a name, quickly, so the club could advertise their appearance they came up with The Rollin’ Stones, lifted from a song by their hero Muddy Waters. Jazz News carried the band’s line up:
Mick Jagger (vocals harmonica), Keith Richards (guitars) Elmo Lewis, real name Brian Jones (guitars), Dick Taylor (bass), Ian Stewart (piano), & Mick Avory (drums).
Brian Jones was calling himself Elmo Lewis, Elmo, after his hero Elmore James, and Lewis being his first name: Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones.
According to the band’s handwritten set list for that first gig (penned by Ian Stewart in his appointment diary) they played songs by their heroes Jimmy Reed, Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry.
The rest is history.

The Set List

  1. Kansas City – Wilbert Harrison
  2. Honey What’s Wrong – Billy Fury
  3. Confessin’ The Blues – Chuck Berry
  4. Bright Lights, Big City – Jimmy Reed

  6. Down The Road Apiece – Chuck Berry
  7. I Want To Love You – Charles Smith
  8. I’m A Hoochie Coochie Man – Muddy Waters

  10. Back In The USA – Chuck Berry
  11. I Feel A Kind Of Lonesome – Jimmy Reed
  12. Blues Before Sunrise – Elmore James

Keith Richards Pays Tribute To 'First Inspiration' Scotty Moore...

Presley's first guitarist passed away at his home in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday (28Jun16), aged 84 after months of ill health. He was best known for his work with Elvis and their collaborations on hits such as Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel and Blue Suede, plus their band The Blue Moon Boys, which they formed in 1954 with bassist Bill Black.
Following news of Moore's death, many musicians took to social media to mourn him, including Stones guitarist Richards, who has vocally praised him over the years.
He shared a picture of himself standing with Moore in Memphis, Tennessee in 2005 on Facebook and wrote in the caption, "It is with great sadness we say goodbye to Scotty Moore, my first inspiration. The work he performed on those incredible early Elvis tracks stays with me forever. Farewell old friend."
Richards attended the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, the year Scotty was inducted, to accept the honour on his behalf as the musician was sick. The rocker had also previously said, “Everyone else wanted to be Elvis... I wanted to be Scotty."
The Rolling Stones star wasn't the only one to mourn Moore on social media - Rocker Slash wrote on Instagram, "RIP Scotty Moore. Often underappreciated. But one of the most influential guitarists in RnR (rock 'n' roll)," while Bryan Adams also took to the site to add, "RIP ScottyMoore. I had the privilege of playing with Scotty in 1994 at the Elvis 'Now or Never' tribute. What a legend."
Led Zeppelin star Jimmy Page tweeted, "Rest in Peace, Scotty Moore. A true icon of the electric guitar," while Billy Idol added, "Not many guitarists in R&R were as original & as inventive as Scotty Moore RIP," and Billy Ray Cyrus posted, "RIP Scotty Moore. You will be deeply missed. One thing's for sure... the King is rockin in Heaven tonight!!"

Stone_Alone_Kindle

Bill Wyman’s famed book that charts Bill’s time with the Rolling Stones and his life before the Stones has been launched on Amazon Kindle for the first time as a new edition.

The book chronicles Bill’s life in exhaustive detail from his birth in 1936, his war-time upbringing, his time in the RAF, through to the birth of the Rolling Stones and all the way up to the legendary Brian Jones memorial concert in Hyde Park, 1969.
Offstage, Rolling Stone bass guitarist Bill Wyman has always been “the silent Stone”. Now Bill Wyman tells the story of the Rolling Stones, covering the music, feuds, sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll with the Rolling Stones. While maintaining an unassuming image both on and off stage, Bill Wyman also kept a diary; the resultant autobiography represents a note-by-note rendition of the Rolling Stones’ tumultuous years.
