By Carla HayOn March 4, 2014, the Rolling Stones performed their song "Silver Train" for the first time in concert in 41 years. The occasion was at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo as part of the Stones' "14 on Fire" tour. According to an announcement on the Rolling Stones' website, the previous time that the Rolling Stones performed "Silver Train" was in 1973, when guitarist Mick Taylor was in the band. The announcement on the Rolling Stones' website noted: "The song was
voted for by fans on RollingStones.com, the band’s official app, and
their pages on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr
and Pinterest. The vote was very close, so the band also included
runner-up ‘You Got Me Rocking’ in their 19 song set."
Taylor has been a special guest on the Rolling Stones' tours since
2012, and he joined the Stones on stage to perform "Silver Train" with
them at the Tokyo concert on March 4, 2014. Taylor usually performs only
two songs per concert with the Rolling Stones, but at this concert in
Tokyo, he joined the Stones on stage for four songs: "Silver Train,"
"Slipping Away," "Midnight Rambler" and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."
