On March 25, 2014, the Rolling Stones' first-ever concert in Israel was officially announced. The show (which is part of the Stones' "14 on Fire" tour) will take place at HaYarkon Park in Tel Aviv on June 4, 2014. Shuki Weiss Promotion and Production Ltd. is promoting the concert.
The Jerusalem Post quoted concert promoter Shuki Weiss as saying: “This is a historic and very meaningful visit. In these days when we hear calls for boycotts from around the world, it’s not taken for granted that a band of this magnitude will come to Israel.”
According to the Jersualem Post, the Rolling Stones are getting about $6 million to perform in Tel Aviv. Weiss faced competition from concert promoters Gad Oron and Marcel Avraham, who were also in talks to have a Rolling Stones concert in Israel. Weiss says he's been trying to get the Stones to perform in Israel since 1988. He commented on accomplishing that goal: "The longest negotiation I ever conducted is coming to an end."
The Jerusalem Post reports: "Tickets go on sale March 27, but Pelephone customers can get tickets immediately through their carrier’s website, and get a 100 shekel discount. Shuki Weiss is also giving away a free ticket to one lucky fan who posts a photo on his Facebook wall. Lawn tickets sell for NIS 695, Golden Ring for NIS 1,790, and VIP tickets (which will include seats) for NIS 2,850."
