The Rolling Stones' "
Doom and Gloom" (the first new and original song from the band since 2005) has gotten off to a respectable star on singles
charts
around the world, where it has debuted in the Top 50 in many countries.
"Doom and Gloom," which was released worldwide on October 11, 2012, has
gotten mostly rave reviews from critics and fans.
Meanwhile,
Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger announced on Twitter that the Rolling Stones have filmed the
music video for "Doom and Gloom" with Swedish actress
Noomi Rapace,
who is best known for starring in the original "Girl With the Dragon
Tattoo" movie and the sci-fi flick "Prometheus." Swedish director Jonas
Åkerlund directed the video. He previously worked with the Rolling
Stones on their 2005 video "Rain Come Down." Åkerlund is also known for
directing Madonna's "Ray of Light," Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé's
"Telephone," Pink's "Sober" and Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi."
Jagger tweeted on October 24, 2012: "Had a great video shoot today
doing Doom & Gloom with the band & Noomi Rapace, directed by
Jonas Åkerlund. Be out in Nov, hope you like it."
"Doom and Gloom" and "One More Shot" are the two new and original
songs that are on the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary greatest-hits
collection "GRRR!," which is set for release in the U.S. and Canada on
November 13, 2012, and in other countries on November 12, 2012.
The Rolling Stones are doing a select number of concerts in 2012,
including shows in Paris, London and New Jersey. Rolling Stones
guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have hinted in interviews that
the band will do a full-scale tour in 2013.
