Jagger Rules Out Olympics Performance
The Rolling Stones have ruled out performing at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London after Bryan Adams warned them off.
The veteran rockers were rumoured to be among acts lined up to launch the sporting event in July (12), but frontman Sir Mick Jagger has dismissed the speculation.
He's adamant the band has not even been approached by the organisers of the opening ceremony - but they aren't keen on taking part after receiving some advice from Canadian rocker Adams.
Jagger tells the Bbc, "Has anyone actually approached us? No. But Bryan Adams said, 'Whatever you do, don't do any Olympic openings,' after he did the winter Games in Canada. It was so cold, and he had to wear this bizarre suit... Although that's not going to happen here (in London) - it would just rain."
The singer also fears a repeat of the closing ceremony at the previous Olympics, in Beijing, China, when Led Zeppelin rocker Jimmy Page and Leona Lewis teamed up to perform Whole Lotta Love, adding: "It wasn't a brilliant piece of theatre when they left the stadium with a London bus with Jimmy Page on it. I don't want to be on that bus when it arrives in London."
