Mick Jagger releases statement about 'Some Girls Live in Texas' concert film

Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger has released a statement regarding what he remembers about the Rolling Stones concert that was made into the film "Some Girls Live in Texas 1978."

As previously reported, the movie is being released for a limited time in cinemas, beginning in October 2011. The movie will be released by Eagle Vision on DVD and Blu-ray on November 21, 2011. (Click here for a list of theatrical release dates and locations.)

“Some Girls Live in Texas 1978” was filmed in Forth Worth, Texas, on July 18, 1978, during the band’s tour to promote the Rolling Stones’ 1978 album “Some Girls.” Shot on 16 mm film, the movie that will be shown in theaters has been restored to high definition with 5.1 audio, and the total running time will be 85 to 90 minutes. In addition, the movie will include an August 2011 interview with Jagger giving his thoughts on the concert.

Some of the songs performed in the movie include “Miss You,” “Beast of Burden” “Tumbling Dice,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Brown Sugar,” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.”

Jagger comments in a press release for the movie's theatrical release:

“Fort Worth was an amazing night in a blistering hot July. Watching it now, the band was really intense and focused, but we were also having a blast with the fans who were really getting into the show and the new tracks from 'Some Girls.' I think our fans will love the chance to see this concert movie for the first time on the big screen.”

As previously reported, Universal Music is releasing a remastered reissue of the “Some Girls” album (with previously unreleased tracks), which is due out on November 21, 2011 — the same day as the DVD/Blu-ray releases of “Some Girls Live in Texas 1978.”

The concert film “Ladies and Gentlemen ... The Rolling Stones” had a similar release in 2010: a limited time in theatres, followed a month later by the DVD/Blu-ray releases.
