Rolling Stones invited to perform at 12-12-12 concert (Hurricane Sandy benefit)

The Rolling Stones have been invited to perform at the all-star concert titled 12-12-12 that will raise money to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. The event is scheduled to take placer at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 12, 2012. As of this writing, it has not been announced if they have accepted or declined the invitation.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, one of the event's organizers, John Sykes, commented on the Rolling Stones possibly participating: "There's been talk of that. The challenge is they have a full-blown dress rehearsal on the 12th or the 13th because their pay-per-view special is on the 15th. But, yeah, there have been conversations with them. Mick and Keith came out for the Concert for New York City 11 years ago and played on their own. They're well aware of the show and certainly have been invited to be part of it in any way, shape or form of the band.
"We have yet to announce the final, final lineup and everything else that will be happening that evening. We're speaking to literally every media platform and looking for the best possible reach for fundraising opportunities. What we hope will happen is that many will come in and many doors will be open, like what happened a few weeks ago for the NBC telethon."
Performers for the event who have been announced so far include The Who, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Kanye West, Roger Waters, Alicia Keys, Billy Joel and Jon Bon Jovi.
Many of the event's organizers, including Sykes, are the same people who organized the Concert for New York City, the October 2001 concert that took place to benefit survivors of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
