Rolling Stones dig into archives again for bootlegged show
This time, the band is releasing their legendary 1981 Checkerboard Lounge show with blues great and Stones influence Muddy Waters on CD and DVD July 10.
Waters is joined on stage at the show by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and the late Ian Stewart for a blues-dominated set.
Also appearing at the show are famed blues guitarist Buddy Guy and Lefty Diaz.
Jagger told journalist Paul DuNoyer in 2001 that Waters was one of his heroes.
"It’s hard to pick a hero of mine because they’re so disparate," he said. "There’s Buddy Holly, there was Muddy Waters… There was Elvis ..." Jagger also mentioned Chuck Berry in the interview.
The show has been heavily circulated in the bootleg world for years. The DVD will be released in single disc and two-disc version with the CD. The sound has been mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain.
The new set follows the releases of “Some Girls Live in Texas” and “Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones” in the past two years.
