Rolling Stones: a list of releases related to their 50th anniversary

Although the Rolling Stones have announced that they won't be touring in 2012 to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary, there are other things related to the anniversary that are being offered to Rolling Stones fans. (The releases listed here are legal but most are not authorized/endorsed by the Rolling Stones.)
In June 2012, the Rolling Stones unveiled a new logo to commemorate the band's 50th anniversary. Fairey also designed the album cover for the 2011 self-titled debut album from SuperHeavy, the band that consists of Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger, Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Damian Marley and "Slumdog Millionaire" composer A.R. Rahman

Mick Jagger at daughter Jade's wedding; Bianca Jagger, Jerry Hall also attend

Here's something that almost never happens these days: Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger being in the same room as his exes Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall. But according to Us Weekly, all three were at the wedding of Mick and Bianca's daughter, Jade, who married disc jockey Adrian Fillary at the Aynhoe Park Hotel near Banbury, Oxfordshire, England, on June 30, 2012. Mick gave the bride away at the ceremony. The wedding reception took place in the same location.
Jade's marriage to Fillary is her first marriage. They began dating in 2011, and he proposed marriage in February 2012.
British supermodel Kate Moss was also at the wedding, according to Us Weekly.
Jade, 40, is the only child from Mick and Bianca's marriage, which lasted from 1971 to 1980. The former couple had been separated for about three years before their divorce became final.
Mick, 68, has four children with Hall, who got together with Mick in 1977 and broke up with him in 1999. Mick's children with Hall are 28-year-old Elizabeth, 26-year-old James, 20-year-old Georgia and 14-year-old Gabriel. The legality of Mick and Hall's 1990 wedding ceremony in Bali was called into question by Mick after they broke up, and their marital union was annulled.
Mick has two other children from brief affairs: 41-year-old daughter Karis (whose mother is singer/actress Marsha Hunt) and 13-year-old son Lucas (whose mother is former model Luciana Morad).
It has not been reported yet if any of Mick's other children were at Jade's wedding.
According to Us Weekly, Jade's two children (20-year-old Assisi and 17-year-old Amba) were bridesmaids at the wedding. The children's father is artist Piers Jackson, who was in a relationship with Jade from 1990 to 1999.
After breaking up with Jackson, Jade (who is a jewelry designer) was in a relationship with disc jockey Dan Williams from 2002 to 2011. Although there were false rumors that Jade and Williams were secretly married, the couple never married.

Charie Watts in New York City: Jimmy Fallon, Iridium, Lincoln Center and more

Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts has been making a big splash in New York City with his band the A, B, C & D of Boogie Woogie. The band, which was formed in 2009, has mostly performed in Europe, but made its U.S. debut on June 27, 2012, by doing a two-set show as part of Lincoln Center's "Midsummer Night Swing" series.
In addition, A, B, C & D of Boogie Woogie made its U.S. TV debut performing on NBC's New York City-based variety series "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on June 29, 2012, the same date that the band kicked off a four-night stint at New York City's Iridium Jazz Club. The A, B, C & D of Boogie Woogie is doing eight sets (two sets per night) from June 29 to July 2, 2012, at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City. Watts will also perform with the Les Paul Trio at the Iridium Jazz Club on July 2, 2012.
The other members of the A, B, C & D of Boogie Woogie are pianist Axel Zwingenberger and pianist/vocalist Ben Waters and bass player Dave Green. The band's name comes from the first letters of the band members' first names.
As previously reported, the group's debut album, "Live in Paris," was released in the U.S. and Canada on June 26, 2012, and in other countries on June 25, 2012.
According to recent interviews given by Rolling Stones guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, the Rolling Stones are planning to reunite before the end of 2012 to do something special to celebrate the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary. The band is meeting in London in July 2012 to discuss those plans, according to Richards. Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger has said in several interviews that the band will not tour in 2012.
In recent interviews,Watts has not revealed any new information about the the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary plans. The only thing he has confirmed is that the Rolling Stones turned down an invitation to perform at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
In late April/early May 2012, Rolling Stones got together in New York City and in Weehawken, New Jersey, for rehearsals that were filmed for an authorized Rolling Stones 50th anniversary documentary movie (directed by Brett Morgen) that will be released in cinemas in September 2012 and on DVD/Blu-ray in October or November 2012. The movie's title and release dates are to be announced.

He can’t get no satisfaction, but he may be able to get some birthday cake. Rolling Stones great Mick Jagger turns 69 on July 26. The singer, still one of the most demonstrative frontmen going, has been responsible for some of the greatest music in rock history.
Paired with frequent writing partner and guitarist Keith Richards, the dynamic duo created such classics as ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,’ ‘Gimme Shelter,’ and ‘Miss You.’ Outside of the Rolling Stones, Jagger’s biggest singles were ‘Just Another Night’ and his duet with David Bowie on ‘Dancing in the Street.’

Ex-Rolling Stones tour promoter Michael Cohl settles lawsuit with Live Nation

Michael Cohl, who promoted the Rolling Stones' tours from 1989 to 2007, has settled a lawsuit with his former employer Live Nation. Terms of the settlement were not publicly disclosed.
The settlement was announced in a Live Nation press release on June 27, 2012. Live Nation chairman of global music Arthur Fogel stated in the press release: "We've had a long and fruitful history collaborating with Michael Cohl. We're pleased that we've been able to resolve our differences, and can now get back to working together."
In the same press release, Cohl added: "Live Nation has been a valued partner through the years, and I'm glad that we've been able to put this behind us and move forward."
Cohl was chairman of Live Nation from 2007 to 2008. He was involved in a contentious lawsuit over his exit agreement with Live Nation, the giant music corporation whose business includes promotion of live entertainment, as well as merchandising and recording deals with select artists. Live Nation sued Cohl for $5.35 million in November 2010, claiming that he owed Live Nation money as part of the company's settlement deal with Cohl.
Cohl countersued Live Nation, with Cohl claiming that Live Nation promised that the company would not compete against Cohl for the rights to promote the next Rolling Stones tour, which Cohl says had been planned for 2011. (The tour never happened.)
Cohl is now head of concert-promotion company S2BN Entertainment, which is based in Toronto.
Not long after the Live Nation's lawsuit against Cohl was made public, the Rolling Stones issued a statement saying that the band's business relationship with Cohl ended in 2007 (at the end of the band's tour for "A Bigger Bang"), and that he was not authorized to represent the band in any way.
The Rolling Stones have announced that they will not be touring in 2012, but guitarist Keith Richards told Rolling Stone magazine that the band might tour in 2013. The Rolling Stones have not performed together in public since 2007, at the end of the band's tour for "A Bigger Bang." That tour lasted from 2005 to 2007.

Rolling Stones Update Logo for 50th Anniversary

Rolling Stones Logo
Shepard Fairey / RollingStones.com
With less than three weeks remaining until the official 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones‘ first concert, the band has revealed a new version of their classic logo.
The classic lips design was updated by Shepard Fairey to reflect the milestone. It was revealed at the band’s official website on Tuesday.
John Pasche designed the original logo in 1971, nine years after the band took the stage at the Marquee Club in London. July 12, 1962 was the Rolling Stones’ first gig, and to celebrate the milestone they’re allowing a photographic exhibition to open for free to the public at the Somerset House in London from July 13 to Aug. 27, 2012.
There is also a documentary in the works, and a book called ‘The Rolling Stones: 50‘ that will be available on July 12. Rolling Stone reports that the band may try to squeeze one concert into their 2012 schedule, but a larger run of dates isn’t going to happen until at least 2013. They are gathering to discuss future plans this summer.
Guitarist Keith Richards indicated they’ll soon be discussing a new album, but fans of the band have no doubt learned to not get excited by “discussions.” After all, Ronnie Wood has led us down that road before.

Jack White To Produce The Rolling Stones?

Keith Richards says ''the door is wide open,'' for Jack White to produce The Rolling Stones if they head to the studio to record later this year.
Keith Richards says ''the door is wide open,'' for Jack White to produce The Rolling Stones.
The legendary 'Paint it Black' band's guitarist said they are meeting next month to discuss plans to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and he is keen for them to head to the studio.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: ''I'd love to get some tracks down and see what songs we've got. And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I'd love to cut some tracks, yeah.''
When asked if blues renaissance man Jack - a friend of Keith who worked on some demo material with him in 2009 - would produce the new material, he replied: ''That's always a possibility. The door is wide open.''
Keith - who is joined in The Rolling Stones by singer Sir Mick Jagger, guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Charlie Watts - also said he would like the tracks he and Jack recorded to one day be released.
He said: ''I don't know if Jack ever considered that it was actually, like, master cuts.
''But at the same time if he wanted to [release them], I'd probably say, 'Yeah.'''
Meanwhile, the former The White Stripes frontman has said he prefers to print vinyl records for his Third Man label, because he likes the ''romance'' of the format.
He told the BBC: ''The whole experience of vinyl is what we're after, the romance of it. The smell of vinyl, the smell of a newly opened record. If we don't see something moving, we lose romance. There's no romance for me to sing to you about an iPod.''

Keith Richards Talks Joint Recordings With Jack White

"If Jack wanted to [release] it, I'd probably say yeah," says Stones guitarist

Keith Richards and Jack White have been friends for years, but in 2009 they collaborated professionally, spending time together in a recording studio. "I enjoy working with Jack," Richards told Rolling Stone at the time. "We've done a couple of tracks."
In a recent chat with RS, Richards addressed the possibility of the joint recordings being released one day. "I don't know if [Jack] ever considered that it was actually, like, master cuts," Richards now says. "But at the same time if Jack wanted to do it, I'd probably say, 'Yeah.'"
"I know Jack pretty well," adds Richards. "He's a lovely player."
Richards will travel to London for a Stones summit in July, where the band will discuss potential plans to record new material to mark their 50th anniversary. "We're going to talk about that in July and see," he said. "I mean, I'd love to get some tracks down and see what songs we've got. And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I'd love to cut some tracks, yeah."
For years, fans have speculated about whether White will produce the Stones, working the same magic he did with Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson. "That's always a possibility," Richards says. "The door is wide open."
White first saw the Stones live when the White Stripes opened for them in 2002. "[I learned] how good they were," White told David Fricke in his 2008 cover story with Richards. "You could see the comfort level between them, in Keith's guitar playing and Ron's slide playing. It's impressive, man, when that confidence is exuded."
White's favorite Stones song? "'Undercover of the Night.' I love the guitar riff. I wanted to break the song down to just the riff and that shaky-maracas beat. But we worked on it for a second and got distracted, I guess."
"You wouldn't have loved the song so much," Richards told White, "if you'd had to do the goddamned video for it."

Sky Arts / Ronnie Wood Show
Monday night will see a meeting of two of the key pieces of two of the biggest bands of all time. Sir Paul McCartney will drop by the U.K. television series hosted by Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. The ‘Ronnie Wood Show’ launched in the U.K. on Sky Arts HD back in February, with the Rolling Stones great expanding upon his radio show and speaking with many of his peers. Wood got perhaps the biggest guest coup of his series so far by landing McCartney for an interview.
The hour-long special airs Monday night at 10:00PM local time in the U.K. on Sky Arts with McCartney sharing the stories behind some of the biggest songs of his career and offering a few anecdotes from his career with the Beatles.
McCartney may be off the road at the moment, but he’s made headlines in recent weeks for celebrating his 70th birthday, taking part in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert, and revealing his participation in the upcoming London Olympics festivities.
As for Wood, the musician recently entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second time with Small Faces and has been quietly working behind the scenes with the Rolling Stones on their 50th Anniversary plans.

Never-Before-Heard Interviews With Music Icons Donated To Library Of Congress

A treasure trove of never-before-heard interviews featuring singers Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler and Bo Diddley have been donated to America's Library of Congress for historical safe-keeping.
Music executive Joe Smith, who signed such acts as the Grateful Dead and the Eagles, spoke with more than 200 musicians about their lives and most-guarded secrets and now he's donated his entire collection of candid chats to the cultural preservation centre in Washington, D.C.
According to Smith, the recordings will uncover several revelations about the world's greatest icons, including confessions from Tyler about his drug problems and Diddley's thoughts of his own death, and he's excited to share his work with the public.
He says, "In recent years, it dawned on me that, if anything, the significance of recollections from Jerry Lee Lewis, Mick Jagger, Smokey Robinson, Ahmet Ertegun, Herb Alpert, Ruth Brown and all the other notables I was fortunate enough to interview, are truly part of the fabric of our cultural history...
"I hope that generations to come will benefit from hearing the voices of these brilliant artists and industry luminaries recounting their personal histories. I'm just thrilled that the Library of Congress has agreed to preserve and safeguard these audio artefacts."

Ronnie Wood and revamped Faces sued over cancelled London concert

Ronnie Wood and the rest of the revamped lineup of the Faces are being sued for more than £97,000 (or $155,000) by British concert-promotion company Peter Conway Promotions, which claims breach of contract because the band cancelled a festival gig in London to play a higher-paying show in Japan instead.
The Sun reports that the lawsuit claims the Faces had backed out of a deal for the band to headline the Greenwich Summer Sessions in 2011. The festival's lineup also included Squeeze, Mark Ronson and Status Quo. Peter Conway Promotions alleges that the Faces cancelled their Greenwich Summer Sessions gig weeks before the event because the band had accepted an offer to perform instead at the 2011 Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. According to the lawsuit, the Faces would have been paid $75,000 for the Greenwich Summer Sessions show, while the band received $500,000 to play at the Fuji Rock Festival. Peter Conway Promotions claims that because of the Faces' cancellation, the company lost thousands in sales for tickets, merchandise, food and drinks.
Wood is one of the original members of the Faces, the band he was in before he joined the Rolling Stones in the mid-1970s. The Faces broke up in 1975, but there have been occasional reunions of the band on stage in subsequent years.
A revamped lineup of the Faces toured in 2010 and 2011. The new lineup consists of original members Wood on guitar, Kenney Jones on drums, Ian McLagan on keyboards, plus new Faces members Mick Hucknall (of Simply Red fame) on lead vocals and former Sex Pistol member Glen Matlock on bass. Ronnie Lane, the original bass player of the Faces, died of multiple sclerosis in 1997. Rod Stewart, the original lead singer of the Faces, declined to be a part of the Faces reunion tours.
Stewart was also absent when the Faces were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 14, 2012. Stewart issued a statement saying that he had to cancel his appearance at the show because he was sick with the flu. Hucknall filled in for Stewart when the Faces performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Wood is the only member of the Rolling Stones who has two inductions in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was first inducted with the Rolling Stones in 1989.
Jones and Stewart also have two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions. Jones was inducted with the Who in 1990, while Stewart was inducted as a solo artist in 1994.
So far, there has been no comment from the Faces about the lawsuit, which will most likely be settled out of court.

Keith RichardsAmazingly, Keith Richards‘ 1972 arrest wasn’t for anything drug-related. He and Rolling Stones bandmate Mick Jagger were both arrested following a fight with a photographer in Rhode Island.
We’re not sure what the scuffle was about, but if Richards was trying not to have his picture taken, he obviously missed out on that goal, plus, he had to go to a police station to do so.

Rolling Stones Trio To Team Up Onstage

Rocker Ronnie Wood is to join former Rolling Stones stars Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor onstage later this month (Jun12) for a special concert.
Wyman quit the band in the early 1990s, and guitarist Taylor was replaced in the line-up by Wood in 1975 after a bust-up over songwriting credits.
Now the three musicians will perform together in London at a show to celebrate the legacy of legendary blues label Chess Records.
Editors at the London Evening Standard report Wyman and Taylor will be joining Wood at his Ronnie Wood & Friends concert on 30 June (12).
Earlier this week (beg18Jun12), a spokesman for the Rolling Stones played down reports the band was planning to retire after a headline concert at Britain's Glastonbury festival next year (13).

Ronnie Wood ex-girlfriend takes credit for his sobriety; Wood at Topman show

Ana Araujo, an ex-girlfriend of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, has given a tabloid interview in which she claims that she was the main reason why Wood stayed sober when they were a couple.
Wood, 65, and Araujo, 32, dated from January 2010 to October 2011. He went into rehab shortly after they began dating.
Araujo told the Daily Mail: "I loved him and we were in a serious relationship, so it was important to make him completely change his lifestyle and nurse him back to health. Every single day for the first three months we were together, often twice a day, I went to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous to support and get Ronnie sober.
"I made him take vitamins, eat organic food and when he broke down and wanted to drink, I was there to help him through those dark times. It took him 50 years to stop. No one else could help him, but I could ... I am proud of all the therapy work I did with him."
When Wood and Araujo were a couple, he often told the media that she was helping him stay clean and sober.
An unnamed source told the Daily Mail said that Wood broke up with Araujo because he thought she was too fame-hungry. Wood and Araujo never lived together, but Daily Mail reported that Wood was paying her living expenses when he and Araujo were dating.
After breaking up with Araujo, Wood briefly dated 25-year-old jewelry-store employee Nicola Sargent. Wood has been dating theater producer Sally Humphreys, 34, since the autumn of 2011.
Humphreys has been Wood's constant companion when he attends celebrity events. The couple was seen hanging out with billionaire Sir Philip Green at the Topman's spring/summer 2013 fashion show at the Old Sorting Office in London on June 17, 2012.

Rolling Stones Gather to Plot 50th Anniversary Bash

Band will meet in July in London to discuss performing possibilities

June 19, 2012 3:00 PM ET
The Rolling Stones are strongly considering at least one live concert later this year to mark their 50th anniversary, Stones insiders tell Rolling Stone. Sources add that the band is still considering a tour in 2013. "I'd like to get a couple of shows down and see how it goes," Keith Richards says. "But I'd love it."
The news comes after the band gathered in late April in the New York area for a full week of rehearsals – their first time playing together at such length since the final night of the marathon A Bigger Bang tour at London's O2 arena in August 2007. In July, the band will gather in London to further discuss live performance possibilities. "It's all very hush-hush," Richards says. "I'm going over to London for a bit, so I'll find out more then."
He adds that the band will also use the summit to discuss whether they will be recording their first new LP since 2005's A Bigger Bang. "We're going to talk about that in July and see. I mean, I'd love to get some tracks down and see what songs we've got. And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I'd love to cut some tracks, yeah."
Does Richards see himself writing one-on-one with Mick Jagger again? "Oh, yeah," he says. "I have no doubt."
In late April, the Stones began rehearsing in New York and continued working across the Hudson River in Weehawken, New Jersey, inviting a film crew led by director Brett Morgen to shoot footage for a documentary celebrating the group's anniversary, set for a fall release. The Stones blasted through classics including "Beast of Burden," "Respectable," "Fool to Cry" and "Gimme Shelter." "We played everything, really," says Richards. "We're just getting our chops together. It was like playing in the garage, a maintenance check, you know?"
The vibe was joyful, with Keith Richards and Mick Jagger joking around between takes. "Someone would mention a song, and within the second run they had nailed it," Morgen says. "Having screened through 50 years of material over the last six months, I would rank it up there with anything I've ever heard from them. They were extremely tight." Adds Richards, "I thought I'd be quite rusty, after all we hadn't done it for a while, five years or something. But it sounded as fresh as you could hope for. It was a great we

Rolling Stones Keep Rolling: No Truth to Retirement Rumors

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones may be keeping quiet at the moment about their future plans, but that is apparently not to be taken a sign that the end has begun for the world’s most famous rock and roll band.
Rumors surfaced Saturday in the Sunday Mirror that the band were planning on playing Glastonbury next year as the final date of a handful of shows in the U.S. and the U.K., with the event likely being their farewell.
However, the Guardian quotes representatives for the group as stating that there was no truth to the claims on both fronts. Though the group have never played Glastonbury, it is not expected to happen as part of their 50th Anniversary tour.
A spokesperson for the festival also told the Guardian, ‘Everybody in the year off thinks they’ve come up with the perfect Glastonbury lineup. But at the moment there isn’t anything to confirm or deny.”
The rumors appear to be another false start for the band. Earlier this year Ron Wood suggested that the group would tour in October only to later state that he might have gotten ahead of himself with the news.

No one knows exactly when, if and in what form the Stones will return to the concert stage – perhaps in celebration of their upcoming 50th anniversary? But we’re pretty sure we can count on more cool artwork when that day does arrive.

Who knows what rare and valuable records could be sitting on your shelves. A list on New York radio station WCBS-FM’s website uncovers some classic albums and singles that may look like they are run-of-the-mill, but are actually worth a good chunk of change.
Topping the list is the original pressing of Bob Dylan‘s second album, ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.’ The album, which was released in 1963, contains the protest song, ‘Talkin’ John Birch Society Blues.’ The version was recalled on the eve of its release after Columbia Records feared litigation from the extremist right-wing group over the lyrics.
Three other songs, ‘Rambling Gambling Willie,’ ‘Rocks and Gravel’ and ‘Let Me Die in My Footsteps’ were also removed, and replaced by ‘Masters of War,’ Bob Dylan’s Dream,’ ‘Talkin’ World War III Blues’ and ‘Girl from the North Country.’ Columbia believed they had destroyed all copies, but several managed to escape and are now worth up to $20,000.
Slightly below ‘Freewheelin” at $18,000 is the picture sleeve of the Rolling Stones‘ 1968 single, ‘Street Fighting Man.’ The photographs on the sleeve depicts Los Angeles cops beating protestors during the 1966 Sunset Strip riots (the same events inspired Buffalo Springfield‘s classic ‘For What Its Worth,’ which recently came in at No. 75 on our list of the Top 100 Classic Rock Songs). The band’s label pulled the sleeve to avoid controversy.
So check out the complete list and then run to your vinyl collection to see if a big pay day is in your future.

Keith Richards-produced Aaron Neville album: more details on songs and musicians

The doo-wop album that Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards produced for Aaron Neville is due out sometime in the autumn of 2012, Blue Note Records has announced. Richards also plays guitar on the album, whose title is to be announced. As previously reported, Richards and longtime Rolling Stone producer Don Was (who is president of Blue Note) worked with Neville on the album.
According to Blue Note, the album is "a collection of classic material from the doo-wop era" that was "hand-picked by Neville."
Richards commented in a press release: "This was a dream session. The band fell right into the groove and Aaron sang like an angel. It was an honor!"
Blue Note's Was, who is one of the album's producers, added: “Aaron Neville is one of the most expressive and soulful artists of all time...it's such a thrill to hear him sing. His vocals have a way of reaching into your heart and stirring something really deep inside. It's a huge honor to welcome him to Blue Note Records and to be involved, along with the legendary Keith Richards, in the production of this album.”
Neville stated: “When I was a kid, doo-wop was like medicine to me. I didn’t care what else was goin’ on in the world as long as I could sing along with Pookie Hudson and The Spaniels, The Flamingos, The Clovers, Sonny Til and The Orioles, Clyde McPhatter — I was like a kid in a candy store.”
Other muscians who are featured on the album include guitarist Greg Leisz (who has worked with Beck, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan and Ryan Adams); organist/keyboardist Benmont Tench (he is a founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers); dummer George G. Receli (who has worked with Dylan and James Brown); and bass player Tony Scherr (who has worked with Bill Frisell, Norah Jones and Rufus Wainwright).
Blue Note president Was has been working with the Rolling Stones as a producer since the Rolling Stones' 1994 album "Voodoo Lounge."
Richards has been a longtime music producer. He and Mick Jagger have produced several Rolling Stones songs under the name the Glimmer Twins. Richards has also produced his own solo music, as well as music from Aretha Franklin, Ronnie Spector, Johnnie Johnson and reggae band Wingless Angels.
Besides working on Neville's doo-wop album, Richards has another connection to Aaron Neville: Aaron Neville's keyboard-playing son Ivan Neville is a longtime member of the X-Pensive Winos, the band that Richards works with for Richards' solo career.

Rolling Stones dig into archives again for bootlegged show...

Rolling Stones dig into archives again for bootlegged show

The Rolling Stones, who for years avoided digging into their archive performances, are doing it yet again.
This time, the band is releasing their legendary 1981 Checkerboard Lounge show with blues great and Stones influence Muddy Waters on CD and DVD July 10.
Waters is joined on stage at the show by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and the late Ian Stewart for a blues-dominated set.
Also appearing at the show are famed blues guitarist Buddy Guy and Lefty Diaz.
Jagger told journalist Paul DuNoyer in 2001 that Waters was one of his heroes.
"It’s hard to pick a hero of mine because they’re so disparate," he said. "There’s Buddy Holly, there was Muddy Waters… There was Elvis ..." Jagger also mentioned Chuck Berry in the interview.
The show has been heavily circulated in the bootleg world for years. The DVD will be released in single disc and two-disc version with the CD. The sound has been mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain.
The new set follows the releases of “Some Girls Live in Texas” and “Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones” in the past two years.
At left, you can see a clip from the show of “Baby Please Don't Go” that featured alternating vocals from Jagger and Muddy Waters, and a blues solo from Keith Richards.
Track Listing: "Sweet Little Angel," "Flip Flop And Fly", Muddy Waters Introduction, "You Don't Have To Go," "Country Boy," "Baby Please Don't Go," "Hoochie Coochie Man," "Long Distance Call," "Mannish Boy," "Got My Mojo Working," "Next Time You See Me," "One Eyed Woman," "Baby Please Don't Go (Instrumental)," "Blow Wind Blow," "Champagne & Reefer.

Omega London 2012 Olympic Games TV Commercial – What’s the Song?(STONES)

Omega just revealed their new commercial for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, and it features a somewhat reworked version of the Rolling Stones classic, ‘Start Me Up.’
The commercial relies heavily on Keith Richards‘ opening guitar lick from the song, which is used repetitively to as a montage of athletes preparing for their big moments plays in the background.
You’ve heard the lick so many times it’s inevitably emblazoned upon your brain, but it’s possible you’ve never heard it like this.
Frequent Rolling Stones producer Don Was is responsible for the version of ‘Start Me Up’ that you hear in the commercial. His remix was made specifically for the Omega promo, and after the quick-hitting series of images of athletes, the song as we know it finally kicks in.
The usage of the song fits, as Omega is the Official Timekeeper for the 2012 Olympic Ceremony. After the series of Olympians and their warm-up routines, we catch a glimpse of the Omega watch ticking off the seconds. Omega has a long-running history with the Olympics, with the 2012 summer event marking their 25th time as the ffficial timekeeper. In fact, they were there in 1948, the last time the games were held in London.
For those who don’t know their future Olympic heroes yet, the commercial provides an opportunity. It features Chinese diver Qiu Bo, U.S. swimmer Natalie Coughlin, British heptathlete Jessica Ennis, U.S. sprinter Tyson Gay, South African swimmer Chad Le Clos, and U.S. pole vaulter Jenn Suhr.
