The Rolling Stones have curated a picture book, featuring over 700 photographs, to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
The Rolling Stones will release a book to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
The British band - which includes Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood - played their first gig in 1962 at the Marquee Club in London's Oxford Street and have now curated 'The Rolling Stones: 50' which will showcase their extraordinary career over the past 50 years in 700 photographs.
They said in a statement: ''This is our story of fifty fantastic years. We started out as a blues band playing
the clubs and more recently we've filled the largest stadiums in the world with the kind of show that none of us could have imagined all those years ago. Curated by us, it features the very best photographs and ephemera from and beyond our archives.''
The book has been made possible by access to reportage photography from the Daily Mirror's archive, the largest newspaper collection of Rolling Stones photography, most of it previously unseen.
The photographers include Gered Mankowitz, Jean-Marie Périer, Dezo Hoffman, Michael Cooper, Terry O'Neill, Bent Rej and Philip Townsend - the photographer for their first ever shoot.
The book will be published on 12 July 2012 with a RRP of £29.95.
