The Who’s Roger Daltrey Gets a Helping Hand From Ron Wood, Steve Winwood at London Charity Gig

Roger Daltrey continues to do what he can to make sure the kids are all right.

On March 28, Daltrey performed Who and solo material as the headliner for a Teenage Cancer Trust benefit show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. And he wasn’t alone: The concert’s impressive list of guest musicians included Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood, as well as Steve Winwood and Paul Weller.

Daltrey is a longtime Teenage Cancer Trust supporter, and his commitment to fighting the disease doesn’t stop there. Along with Who bandmate Pete Townshend, Daltrey is the co-namesake of a recently launched UCLA teen/young adult cancer program.

“I think the pop business owes teenagers because they have earned their living from teenagers for years,” Daltrey said after the March 28 show. “Teenagers are very different from children and very different from adults, so let’s not ignore them.”

Daltrey was joined by a ukulele-playing Wood for a rendition of ‘Blue, Red and Grey,’ a deep track from the Who’s 1975 studio album, ‘The Who By Numbers.’ Daltrey’s set also included an acoustic version of ‘The Kids Are Alright.’

A companion Teenage Cancer Trust concert is scheduled for tonight (March 29) at Royal Albert Hall, with Paul McCartney as the headliner.

These creaky Stones won’t roll.

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is still seething that Keith Richards dared to insult his manhood, claiming in Keith’s 2011 tell-all autobiography, “Life,” that his longtime lady-loving bandmate has a “tiny todger.”

The barb, dubbed “Willygate” by the British press, has apparently torpedoed what was left of the aging rock duo’s already icy relationship and sank any chance for a Stones 50th anniversary reunion tour this year.

“Mick feels that Keith violated their friendship completely, damaged his reputation and that of the Rolling Stones,” a Stones source tells London’s Daily Mail.

Richards claims he discovered the tidbit about his old friend’s bits and pieces during a tryst he had in 1960 with Marianne Faithfull, then Jagger’s girlfriend.

Making matters worse, he added how it had been his good fortune to bury his head in Faithfull’s “beautiful jugs” during an afternoon sex romp.

Last week, Richards, 68, apologized — in an effort to patch things up with Jagger, also a spry 68.

“As far as the book goes, it was my story and it was very raw, as I meant it to be,” Richards said. “But I know that some parts of it, and some of the publicity, really offended Mick, and I regret that.”

Rock pensioner Sir Mick Jagger has a novel way to ensure he can still wow fans live - he performs karaoke sets of Rolling Stones songs in his spare time.

Fellow rocker Lenny Kravitz has revealed he was once left stunned when Jagger deserted him during dinner, and when he went to look for the star, he found him in a room singing the band's hits by himself.

Kravitz explains, "I was on vacation with Mick Jagger once, several years ago. He was on a world tour. This is what we do. The throat is a muscle. So if you’re touring, you have to build up the strength of your voice. Now all of a sudden if you have a month off and you don’t sing, that first show, you’re gonna not be happening. And you might get hoarse, and it f**ks up the whole next leg of the tour. So you have to keep singing.

"We were having dinner and he said, 'Lenny, excuse me, I’ll be back in about 45 minutes.' So he goes downstairs and all of a sudden I’m hearing Brown Sugar. And I’m hearing Mick. What Mick is doing, because I had to peep, he was dancing around and doing Rolling Stones karaoke to keep his breath up and to keep his voice up so that he would stay up on his off time.

"He had a band tape of Stones with no vocals that they would record at sound check, right? He’s doing Mick Jagger karaoke downstairs, and I’m listening to this. I was like, 'This is the best moment of my life'."

Rolling Stones ask the public for help in gathering Rolling Stones archives

The Rolling Stones want people to send them any rare and previously unreleased videos, photos, audio that they have of the band.

Here is the announcement that was made on the Rolling Stones' official Facebook page on March 28, 2012:

"Dear Rolling Stones fans,

"We're gearing up to celebrate our fiftieth anniversary with a lot of exciting plans, and we'd appreciate your help with some of them.

"Have you got any interesting photos, videos or audio of the band or band members? Maybe you filmed us on Super 8, stepping off the Isle of Wight ferry in 1964? Or perhaps you have made a VHS recording of us hanging out backstage at MSG in 1981? Do you have a recording from our gig in Streatham in 1963?

"If you think you may have an amazing memento from our history we'd love to hear from you. Send an email to: memorymotel@stonesarchive.com

"Thank you for being with us for all of these years, it's been a wild ride and there's plenty more to come!

As previously reported, the Rolling Stones are having several officially endorsed releases to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary in 2012: There is a photo book titled "Rolling Stones: 50" (which goes on sale in in July 2012), documentary film (still untitled, due out in September 2012), a documentary TV special (title and premiere date to be announced) and a "greatest hits" box set (title and release date to be announced).

There will not be a Rolling Stones tour in 2012, but guitarist Keith Richards hinted that there might be a tour in 2013. Due to Richards' ongoing health problems and lead singer Mick Jagger's seeming reluctance to tour with the Rolling Stones, many fans are skeptical that a Rolling Stones tour will happen in 2013. Time will tell if this turns out to be true.

Keith Richards' infamous 'Exile on Main Street' automobile to be auctioned

A 1950 Pontiac Chieftain Silver Streak convertible, which was owned by Keith Richards while the Rolling Stones were based on the Cote d’Azur in the 1970s during the recording of the "Exile on Main Street" album, is to be sold in Bonhams Sale of Collectors’ Motor Cars and Automobilia at the RAF Museum in the UK on April 30, the auction house announced Monday.

The car, which was featured in photographs of the band at the time, has attracted a pre-sale estimate of £18,000 – 22,000 ($28,705 - $35,088 USD).

The Rolling Stones arrived on the Cote d’Azur in 1971. During this time, they recorded the album "Exile on Main Street." They were joined by a steady stream of visitors from William Burroughs to Gram Parsons.

A guitar said to be autographed by Richards is currently on sale on eBay. The asking price is $2,638.68, though the seller is taking best offers. A guitar on eBay that is advertised as autographed by Richards, Mick Jagger, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts is listed at $12,500.

Classic rock fans may not be getting the Guns N’ Roses reunion that they were hoping for at next month’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, but one long-disbanded group will be reuniting. The Faces, who were living the sex, drugs and rock n’ roll lifetstyle before any of the Gunners had gotten their first tattoos, will perform for the first time together since 1993.

In a recent interview, drummer Kenney Jones let the news slip out that Rod Stewart will join Jones, Ron Wood and Ian McLagan onstage in Cleveland on April 14.

“Contrary to what some people might think, we’re all still great mates and we’ve never said we wouldn’t play together again,” Jones told Music Radar. “We all had dinner about a month ago and decided that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame would be the perfect time and place.

Both the Faces and the Small Faces, which was the group’s name from 1965-69 when Steve Marriott was the lead singer, will be honored at the event. Marriott, who left the Small Faces to form Humble Pie, died in a house fire in 1991. Inducting both groups will be Stevie Van Zandt, who is currently on the road with Bruce Springsteen but does not have a concert scheduled that night.

Jones also said that they will perform three songs, two by the Faces and one by the Small Faces. We’ll go out on a limb and say “Stay With Me,” “Ooh La La” and “Itchycoo Park.”

There is no word yet on who will play bass to fill the shoes of Ronnie Lane, who died in 1997. At a charity gig in 2009, Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones sat in. For their 2010 tour (with Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall singing lead), Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols played bass. We wonder what Tetsu Yamauchi, who joined the Faces when Lane quit in 1973, is doing these days.

Ronnie Wood solo shows in 2012; Wood talks possible One Direction collaboration

The Rolling Stones have not done a concert since 2007, at the end of the tour for "A Bigger Bang," but the long hiatus has not stopped guitarist Ronnie Wood from regularly performing at shows every year. So far in 2012, Wood has shows booked as solo artist in London and in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Here are the shows that have been announced:

• April 21, 2012: Solo show at Golden Nugget (formerly the Trump Marina) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
• June 30, 2012: Ronnie Wood & Friends at BluesFest's all-star Chess Records tribute concert at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London. Former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor (who was replaced by Wood in the band) has been announced as one of the performers.

Since the Rolling Stones have been on a concert hiatus, Wood has toured with a revamped lineup with the Faces. He also has done numerous shows as a solo artist, ether as a headliner, as part of an an all-star group or as a guest performer.

In 2011, Wood toured with the Faces and made guest apperances at several concerts, including those by Paul McCartney, Brad Paisley, Rod Stewart and Toots and the Maytals. He was also part of an all-star Ian Stewart tribute show in London in March 2011. The tribute show also featured Taylor, Rolking Stones drimmer Charlie Watts and fomer Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman. (Mick Jagger and Keith Richards did not attend the show.)

Meanwhile, even though Wood has publicly said how much he dislikes "The X Factor" and the show's creator/executive producer Simon Cowell, Wood is apparently open to collaborating with One Direction, the mega-successful boy band that was created by Cowell and "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010.

One Direction's Harry Styles told the Daily Mirror: “We were at a party a while ago and Ronnie said he wanted to come on with us and play guitar. I love the Stones, so I was like, ‘Cool’. It’d be amazing.”

This just in … Rolling Stones guitarist and all-around cool dude Ronnie Wood is slated to perform a concert in Atlantic City on Saturday, April 21, at the Golden Nugget.

Wood, who is also performing at this year’s Bluesfest in London, England, in June, along with the Robert Cray Band, Tom Jones, Van Morrison and others, does not have any other scheduled concerts according to his official Web site and Pollstar.

Ronnie Wood's 'Faces, Time and Places' art exhibit arrives in New York City

Ronnie Wood is not just known as a guitarist for the Rolling Stones. He is also a critically acclaimed and accomplished painter and illustrator. His latest art exhibit, titled "Faces, Time and Places," features numerous portraits by Wood, including those of the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix.

"Faces, Time and Places" made its London debut in November 2011. (Wood attended the exhibit opening on November 8, 2011.) Now, the collection arrives in New York City for an exhibit at 498 Broome Street, from April 9 to June 30, 2012.

The Broome Street gallery is open every day (except major holidays) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time. Private appointments are available.

The exhibit includes paintings, drawings and limited-edition prints available for sale, many of which have never been seen before by the public. Wood and Brandon Coburn selected the pieces in the exhibit.

The New York City exhibit coincides with Wood's second induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As previously reported, Wood is set to be inducted as a member of the Faces at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Cleveland on April 14, 2012.

Wood is an original member of the Faces, the band he was in before he joined the Rolling Stones in the mid-1970s. Wood and the surviving members of the Faces (including Rod Stewart) are expected to attend and will most likely do a reunion performance. Wood was part of a revamped lineup of the Faces (without Stewart) that toured in 2010 and 2011.

In 1989, Wood received his first induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Rolling Stones. He is the only member of the Rolling Stones to have two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions.
