Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards was among the eclectic mix of celebrities who attended a Sirius XM party in New York City for the "one night only" re-opening of Studio 54, on October 18, 2011.

It was the same night that the Rolling Stones' concert film "Some Girls Live in Texas" had its "one night only" release in cinemas in the United States.

Richards' wife, Patti Hansen, and their youngest child, Alexandra Richards, also attended the Studio 54 party.

Other stars at the Studio 54 re-opening party included Cameron Diaz, Naomi Campbell, Kevin Bacon, Ryan Phillippe, Isaac Mizrahi, Donald Trump, Susan Lucci, Tony Hawk, former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone and former 'N Sync member Lance Bass.

In its late 1970s heyday, the original Studio 54 was a playground for celebrities and other nightlife people. Bianca Jagger, the first wife of Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger, was a regular at the original Studio 54, and she famously rode a white horse at the club's opening-night party in 1977. Mick Jagger would occasionally go to Studio 54 but he was not there as much as Bianca Jagger was. Richards would rarely visit Studio 54 since it was a disco at the time, and that was not his music scene.

Studio 54 closed in 1980 when its co-founders Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell were arrested and jailed for tax evasion. In subsequent years, the nightclub re-opened and closed multiple times under various owners. The venue has been owned by the Roundabout Theatre Company since 1998. Schrager was among the attendees at Sirius XM's Studio 54 re-opening party. Rubell died of AIDS in 1989.
