Rolling Stones get four nominations for 2013 NME Awards; Mick Jagger reacts
With four nominations, Rolling Stones are among the leading contenders for the 2013 NME Awards,
which will take place on February 27 at the Troxy in London. The
nominations were announced on January 22, 2013. The awards are voted on
by the public at NME's website.
The Rolling Stones are nominated for these prizes: Best Live Band; Best Music Film (for "Crossfire Hurricane"); Best Book (for "Rolling Stones: 50"); and Best Music Moment (Rolling Stones play London's O2 Arena).
It has not yet been announced if the Rolling Stones will attend the awards show or not.
M.I.A., Tame Impala and Haim also lead the list of nominees, with four nominations each.
Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger commented in the NME issue that goes on sale on January 23, 2013: "It's very nice to be nominated. When I first heard it was four things, I thought, 'Ooh, blimey! That's very nice!' And it’s not a journalists-only thing, it's not a coterie of closely-knit people choosing. It’s funny, because when we were rehearsing at Wembley Arena last year, it was where we used to do the NME Pollwinners. We remembered, it was the first time we ever played 'Jumpin' Jack Flash,' at one of those Pollwinners concerts!"

Best Live Band
As previously reported, the Rolling Stones performed five arena concerts in 2012 to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary: November 25 and November 29 at the O2 Arena in London; December 8 at Barclays Center in New York City's Brooklyn borough; and December 13 and December 15, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The concerts featured several guest performers, including former Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman (in London), former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor (in London and Newark), Bruce Springsteen (in Newark), Jeff Beck (in London), Eric Clapton (in London), John Mayer (in Newark), Lady Gaga (in Newark), Mary J. Blige (in London and Brooklyn), Florence Welch (in London), the Black Keys (in Newark) and Gary Clark Jr. (in Brooklyn and Newark).
In addition, the Rolling Stones performed two songs ("You Got Me Rocking" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash") at the 12-12-12 concert to benefit Hurricane Sandy victims. The concert was held at New York City's Madison Square Garden on December 12, 2012.
Before they launched their mini-tour in 2012, the Rolling Stones did a "warm-up" show at the La Trabendo nightclub in Paris on October 25, 2012.
As previously reported, Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger has confirmed what he previously hinted at in interviews: The Rolling Stones will tour in 2013. The tour dates are to be announced.
In an article published on January 4, 2013, Rolling Stone magazine's website quoted Jagger as saying: “There have been quite a few offers, I’m going to see what’s on the table and discuss it with everyone. We’ll announce it when we’ve figured it out.”
Jagger also told NME that the Rolling Stones will not perform at the Coachella Festival in 2013: “We’re not going to do Coachella because it’s too early. There was a rumor we were gonna do that one, but it’s very early, Coachella. It’s April or something, isn’t it? And we’re not gonna be ready to go by April.”
As for the Rolling Stones tour in 2013, Jagger confirmed to NME: “We’re not gonna stop.”
