Ronnie Wood jams with Paul McCartney and more at Teenage Cancer Trust concerts
Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood made guest appearances at two fundraising concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the charity Teenage Cancer Trust.
First, on March 28, 2012, Wood was part of an all-star jam that consisted of Roger Daltrey of the Who, Paul Weller and Steve Winwood. Wood performed the Who song "Blue, Red and Grey" with Daltrey.
Then on March 29, 2012, Wood joined Daltrey, Weller and Paul McCartney on stage for the Beatles classic "Get Back."
The Rolling Stones have not performed in public together since 2007, at the end of the tour for "A Bigger Bang."
However, since the Stones' touring hiatus, Wood has been the most active member of the band to perform live, either as a headliner, a guest performer or as a member of the revamped lineup of the Faces.
Next up for Wood performing live in 2012 is a Faces reunion (with Rod Stewart) at the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 14 in Cleveland. Wood is being inducted with the Faces at the ceremony, which will feature a performance by the surviving members of the Faces. HBO will televise an edited version of the show on May 14, 2012.
As previously reported, Wood also has these upcoming solo concerts:
- April 21, 2012: Solo show at the Golden Nugget (formerly the Trump Marina) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
- June 30, 2012: Ronnie Wood & Friends at BluesFest's all-star Chess Records tribute concert at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London. Former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor (who was replaced by Wood in the band) has been announced as one of the performers.and-more-at-teenage-cancer-trust-concerts?CID=examiner_alerts_article#ixzz1qsnmRmNo
