Ronnie Wood gets 2012 Sony Radio Academy Award nom and goes to Damien Hirst show

For the second year in a row, "The Ronnie Wood Show" has been nominated for a Sony Radio Academy Award for Best Specialist Music Program. Other nominees in this category for the 2012 Sony Radio Academy Awards are "Another Country With Ricky Ross," David Rodigan" "Friday Night Is Music Night" and "Music: Response."

The 2012 Sony Radio Academy Awards will be held on May 14 at the Grsovenor House Hotel in London. The annual awards show honors people who work in the U.K. radio industry.

"The Ronnie Wood Show" (hosted by Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood) launched in 2010 on Absolute Radio's Absolute Classic Rock channe. In 2012, "The Ronnie Wood Show" began airing as a TV series on Sky Arts HD. In the United States, the radio show can be heard on New York City classic rock station Q104.3 (WAXQ-FM) on Sundays at midnight.

Wood won the 2011 Sony Radio Academy Award for Music Radio Personality of the Year, but he was not nominated in that category in 2012.

In other news about Wood, he attended a Damien Hirst retrospective art exhibit at the Tate Modern in London, on April 3, 2012. Wood has credited longtime friend Hirst with helping Wood go through Wood's most recent rehab stint in 2010. Wood's current girlfriend Sally Humphreys accompanied Wood to the Hirst event.
