How Rolling Stones' Keef keeps cool in the park
PLAYING in Hyde Park for the first time since their legendary concert in 1969, The Rolling Stones gave their all to a crowd of 65,000 on Saturday.
But for anyone thinking the old rockers might be nervous, Keith Richards says he’s typically cool moments before the gig.
Keef,
69, who along with Sir Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood will
play the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival again this Saturday,
tells Absolute Radio’s Andy Bush: “You sort of hang around backstage,
have a warm-up. We have a little room where we check out the set list
and go through any niggling things people have. And then basically just
wander around a bit and soak up the atmosphere, become a part of it.”
But
the guitarist was slightly concerned about wandering too far when the
group played Glastonbury last month. “I didn’t get out into the camping
area,” says Keef. “I was scared I wouldn’t get back.”
