Philadelphia Choir To Sing On Stage With Rolling Stones
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – As the Rolling Stones get set for the first of two highly anticipated shows here in Philadelphia Tuesday night, a local choir was busy rehearsing for their big part in the production. The group will join the Stones on stage for one of the group’s most famous songs.
The 24-member choir known as The Crossing has been putting in a lot of practice time leading up to the big show where they’ll some key parts of the band’s hit song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” which has choir members like Steven Bradshaw pretty excited.
“I’ve done stuff with Ben Folds, Rod Stewart, and Bobby McFerrin and now this is probably the most surreal of them all,” said Bradshaw.
Stevens, a member of the choir for seven years, says he’s been a lifelong fan of the Rolling Stones, and Rock and Roll in general.
“A friend of mine, who I don’t see enough, turned me on to Sticky Fingers, you know this great Rolling Stones album, when I was a kid and several years ago I would have never envisioned this happening. So this is a very cool, very surreal thing,” said Stevens.
Since it’s creation, the group has never done anything quite like this according to Conductor Donald Nally.
“We normally do really complex, beautiful, very beautiful, but very complex, what we would call post-modern contemporary music,” said Nally.
But that doesn’t mean that they weren’t up to the challenge, and the chance to perform in front of such a large audience.
“This will be the largest venue, yes. But we have a really great audience, it’s just not tens of thousands,” said Nally.
But, Nally adds that The Crossing does get around quite a bit.
