Rolling Stones rock Oakland with Tom Waits as a guest; ticket discounts continue
On May 5, 2013, the Rolling Stones performed their second arena show of their 2013 tour; the performance was at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.
Tom Waits was a guest performer on "Little Red Rooster," according to the official Rolling Stones website. The San Jose State University Choraliers accompanied the Rolling Stones on "You Can’t Always Get What You Want."
As previously reported, the tour began at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on May 3, 2013. The vast majority of the reviews from fans and critics have been positive about the Rolling Stones' performances on this tour so far.
Not as well-received are most of the ticket prices, which have been blamed as the reason why most of the shows on the Rolling Stones' 2013 tour have not sold out days in advance. Official ticket sales are at Ticketmaster and each venue's box office. Unofficial ticket sales are being done at secondary outlets such as StubHub. So far, the higher-priced tickets for the concerts in the U.S. and Canada have still been on sale on the night of the show in most cases.
By contrast, tickets for the Rolling Stones' concerts in the England in 2013 sold out the same day that they went on sale. So far, Rolling Stones tour dates in 2013 have only been announced in the U.S., Canada and England.
Tickets that are available on the night of the show are heavily discounted as it gets closer to show time, according to several reports from fans on the Internet. For example, a ticket that had initially cost $600 can be sold for $85 to $250 on the night of the show.
As of now, the official price ranges for tickets are $85 to $600. The $85 tickets must be purchased at a minimum of two tickets per buyer. People with $85 tickets won't know where their seats are until they pick up their tickets at the venue. The $85 tickets have random seating assignments that range from the best seats (the VIP "Tongue Pit" in the front) to the worst seats (all the way in the back) and everywhere in between.
In whatever way that tickets are being sold and distributed, each concert on the tour so far has had a full house, according to several reports from fans and the media.
AEG Live is the promoter of the Rolling Stones' 2013 tour, which features former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor as a guest on all the tour dates. The tour has been named "50 and Counting" as a celebration of the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary.
