The guitar legend, 68, and his third wife Sally, 37, haven't decided on names for the girls yet, but have hinted that they will be more traditional.
Girl group The Ronettes were one of the most popular acts of the 60s, producing classic top 40 hits such as Be My Baby and Baby I Love You, around the time The Stones were starting out.
"Ronnie has been saying the girls will be called The Ronettes. It’s really caught on among all their family and friends. But the names on their birth certificates will be very traditional. They haven’t decided on what they will be yet but it could even be a family name," a friend confided to British newspaper The Daily Mirror.
Theatre producer Sally, is due to give birth in June (16) after Ronnie caps off The Stones' South American tour with fellow band mates Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts.
She has been reportedly been told to avoid travelling to South America because of the threat of contracting the Zika virus which has lead to birth defects in newborn babies.
The pair met when Sally was working at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. “He was hanging his art work there,” she said.
"At the same time I was also producing James Jagger (Mick's son) in a production at the King’s Head in Islington. So there was a sort of crossover.” she told The Daily Telegraph in 2014.
Ronnie's ex-wife, Jo Wood with whom Ronnie has children Leah and Tyrone, revealed she feels said that Ronnie's advancing years will most likely mean he won't see his children grow old.
"I do think he's left it late to have more children and I feel sad that the kids won't know him when they're grown up," she said.
The comments don't seem to have dampened the eager dad's spirits. Ronnie is reported to be carrying around scans of the twins in his wallet and buying baby grows.
