2013. It was the first time that the Rolling Stones did a concert at
Hyde Park since July 5, 1969, which was when guitarist Mick Taylor did
his first public performance with the Stones after he joined the band as
the replacement for Brian Jones. Taylor quit the Rolling Stones in
1974, but since 2012, he has been a guest on the Rolling Stones' "50 and
Counting" concerts to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary. Taylor has
also been announced as a special guest on the Rolling Stones' "14 on
Fire" tour in 2014.
The Rolling Stones' Hyde Park concert in 1969 was free and had an
estimated 250,000 to 500,000 people in attendance. The Rolling Stones'
two Hyde
Park concerts
in 2013 were not free, and each concert had about 65,000 people in
attendance (or an approximate total of 130,000 people for both
concerts). Each of the Stones' Hyde Park concerts in 2013 sold out in
the first day that the concert went on sale.
