Rod Stewart Hopes For Faces Reunion at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction
Rod Stewart said he’s hoping the rest of his former bandmates with the Faces will be available for a reunion at next year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Despite some tensions with keyboardist Ian McLagan, the rocker said he wouldn’t mind getting together for other causes as well.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Stewart responded to McLagan’s comments that the Small Faces and the Faces should have been elected separately, not together. “I think that was a little out of order,” Stewart says. “I think Mac should think himself lucky that he’s in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I know that Woody (Ronnie Wood) and I talked about it and we’re over the moon.”
Both Stewart and Wood are all ready in Hall of Fame, Wood as a Rolling Stone and Stewart as a solo artist. However Stewart missed his induction ceremony in 1994 when an earthquake held him up in Los Angeles.
The singer adds that there are no hard feelings about the band reuniting without him, and even suggests that if they could all get their schedules straight he’d be open to a full reunion tour. “It’s something that I would want to do,” Stewart says, “but it’s getting a commitment from Ronnie — who is hanging onto what the Stones are going to do. He’ll suddenly say, ‘Hey, let’s tour next week!’ I’ll say, ‘Hold on Ronnie, I’ve got commitments! I’ve got commitments for the next year.’”
The ceremony will be held on April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio. Guns N’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan, the Beastie Boys and Laura Nyro will also be enshrined.
