Mick Jagger has U.K. Top 3 hit with Will.i.am single "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)"

For the first time in 27 years, Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger has a Top 3 hit on the U.K. singles chart. Jagger and Jennifer Lopez are featured artists on the Will.i.am single "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)," which has debuted at No. 3 on the U.K. singles chart for the week ending February 18, 2012, according to the Official Charts Company.

The last time Jagger was in the Top 3 of the U.K. singles chart was in 1985 for his duet with David Bowie on their remake of Martha and the Vandellas' "Dancing in the Street." The Jagger/Bowie remake, which was released for the Live Aid charity, was a massive hit in the U.K., where it was No. 1 on the singles chart.

Jagger's most recent Top 10 hit with the Rolling Stones on the U.K. singles chart was for the Rolling Stones song "Start Me Up," which reached No. 7 on the chart in 1981. The last time that the Rolling Stones were in the Top 3 on the U.K. singles chart was in 1978 with "Miss You," which peaked at No. 3.

"T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" was released in the U.S. on November 20, 2011. The song peaked at No. 36 on Billboad's Hot 100 singles chart, before dropping off of the chart after a few weeks.

"T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" is the first single from Will.i.am's fourth solo album,"#willpower," which is due out sometime in 2012. The single has gotten mostly negative reviews from music critics.

Will.i.am is a founding member of the Black Eyed Peas. The group is currently on hiatus.

In December 2011, the Will.i.am song "Go Home" (featuring William Gartner and Mick Jagger) was released. "Go Home" sounds very similar to "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" and features the same sample of Jagger's vocals that are in "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)."
