Grammy for Best Historical Album a tie for Charlie is My Darling and Call It Art
The first winner announced is the classic Rolling Stones album issued by ABKCO, Charlie Is My Darling: Ireland 1965. The package was put together by compilation producers Teri Landi, Andrew Loog Oldham, and Steve Rosenthal. The historical recordings on it were remastered by Bob Ludwig.
The second winner of the Grammy tie is Bill Withers: The Complete Sussex and Columbia Albums, a look back at Bill Withers, compiled and produced by Leo Sacks. Mastering engineers on the project were Jospeh M. Palmaccio, Tom Ruff and Mark Wilder.
In celebration of the nomination, ABKCO recently released a related thirteen-track digital set. The recording and the film take Rolling Stones back to the days when the band consisted the original members of the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Brian Jones and Bill Wyman.
The film Charlie is my Darling- Ireland 1965 captures the band's historic Irish mid-60's dates.
A Super Deluxe edition of the film was released in 2012 that included companion audio CDs.
The thirteen tracks include “Everybody Needs Somebody To Love,” which Mick Jagger sang in tribute to the late Solomon Burke on the 2011 Grammy telecast, as well as Bobby Troup’s “Route 66,” Willie Dixon’s “Little Red Rooster” and “Pain In My Heart” written by Allan Toussaint and covered by Otis Redding.
Also included is Don Ray’s classic number “Down The Road Apiece,” “Time Is On My Side,” the Jerry Ragovoy-penned standard that Irma Franklin first recorded and Hank Snow’s “I’m Moving On.”
