Keith Richards family members open up about their Turks and Caicos lifestyle

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has several homes around the world, and he has described his Caribbean home in Turks and Caicos' Parrot Cay as his most blissful retreat. Several members of his immediate family have now come forward to share details with Vogue about what it's like at Richards family gatherings in Turks and Caicos.
Famed photographer Bruce Weber took a photo of the Richards clan (Keith; his wife, Patti; Keith's four children, Marlon, Angela, Theodora and Alexandra; Lucie de la Falaise and Graham Whitney; the spouses of Keith's two eldest children; and Keith's four grandchildren, Ella Rose, Orson, Ida and Ava) that accompanies the article.

"A typical day begins around 7:00 a.m. with the group busy preparing breakfasts— avocado and tomato on toast for Ella, French toast for Orson and Theodora — everyone already in bathing suits and raring to head down to the beach. The dress code is relaxed, to the extreme. “My sister is topless all the time,” laments Alexandra. “She has the long hair to cover herself, but I’m like, ‘Come on, Theo, it’s just too early!’
While Alexandra, Theodora, and Ella play tennis or badminton, Angela and her partner, Graham Whitney, may take the younger kids sailing on the Sunfish; Patti and Lucie might do yoga or get a massage. Keith likes to spend time with his grandchildren. Patti says he has “grown into” the babies but that “he really loves when he can chat with the kids and introduce them to books and reading.” As for game time, Patti wins at Scrabble, and Keith is the reigning dominoes champion— though Orson has been threatening his grandfather’s winning streak. 'He’s been killing it lately!' says Alexandra."

Parrot Cay is also where Keith happened to meet up with Paul McCartney in 2006, when they wrote a song together that was never released. Keith described the encounter in his 2010 memoir, "Life," but he did not say if he and McCartney ever completed or recorded the song. He also did not mention if the song had a title.

They can’t seem to figure out how best to celebrate their 50th anniversary, but yesterday (July 11) the Rolling Stones were able to agree on at least one thing: It was time to return to the site of their first gig and take a picture to mark the occasion.
The band lined up outside the Marquee Club London, where they played their first show on July 12, 1962, and posed for this shot. Of course, the lineup has changed substantially since then — Brian Jones, Dick Taylor, Ian Stewart, and Mick Avory were all with the band for that first gig — but it’s still a cool way to celebrate a unique milestone.
The photo serves as a precursor to ‘Rolling Stones 50,’ the new book of “superb reportage photography, contact sheets, negative strips, outtakes and so much more, from every period in the band’s history,” as a press release puts it, as well as a photo exhibit that’s scheduled to run at London’s Somerset House over the summer.

Keith Richards has confirmed the Rolling Stones have started rehearsing again and he admits it feels ''so good'' to be back with his fellow band members.

Keith Richards has confirmed the Rolling Stones have started rehearsing again.
The '(I Can't get No) Satisfaction' group - who are also made up of singer Sir Mick Jagger, guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Charlie Watts - have returned to the studio for sessions ahead of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
While Keith was reluctant to confirm whether or not the band will go on tour to celebrate the milestone, he admitted being back in the studio with his fellow band members has felt ''so good''.
He told the BBC: ''There's things in the works - I think it's definitely happening, But when? I can't say yet.
''We're playing around with the idea [of a tour] and had a couple of rehearsals - we've got together and it feels so good.''
The group played their first ever gig at London's Marquee Club exactly 50 years ago tomorrow (12.07.12) on July 12, 1962.
Earlier this year, Ronnie was overheard in New York talking about the band entering the studio again, saying Mick and Keith were going to ''play around with some ideas in the studio next week''.
The Rolling Stones are expected to celebrate their 50th anniversary with a tour next year, and Keith recently admitted 2013 is a ''more realistic'' timeframe that for the group to take to the stage again.

Ronnie Wood's ex-wife Jo is keeping her upcoming autobiography a secret from the Rolling Stones rocker.
The couple split in 2008 after 24 years of marriage following his affair with Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.
Their divorce was finalised in 2011, and now Jo Wood, who has two children with the guitarist, is preparing to lift the lid on her life with the musician in a tell-all tome.
Despite the book being almost completed, Jo admits she has failed to warn her former husband about the memoir.
She tells Britain's Daily Mail, "I've just finished writing my autobiography. I haven't told Ronnie about it. It kind of slipped my mind! I saw him the other day, and I thought "Oh no, I can't tell him now". I might wait for him to find out in another way! No, I should tell him. I will tell him soon.
"I found a great ghostwriter who I absolutely adore and we've had a look of fun writing it. It's very funny actually. I've got lots of funny stories you see! I really enjoyed doing it."

Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood's radio show has been honoured with two trophies at a top U.K. broadcasting awards ceremony.
The guitarist won the specialist programme of the year award for The Ronnie Wood Show at the 17th annual Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards in London on Wednesday (04Jul12).
Wood's weekly guest slot on his Absolute Radio show was named best feature at the ceremony, held by RadioCentre, the industry body for commercial radio.
RadioCentre's Chief Executive Officer Andrew Harrison says, "The standard of entries this year was particularly high, demonstrating once again that commercial radio remains in rude health."
Other big winners included singer Jessie J, who scooped the best breakthrough prize, and chart-topper Adele, who was crowned the most played artist on commercial radio, an honour won by pop group Take That for the previous four years.

Rolling Stones 50th anniversary party confirmed with past & present band members

It's official: The Rolling Stones are having their 50th anniversary party in London on July 12, 2012. The date is significant because the Rolling Stones' first live show was on July 12, 1962, at the Marquee Club in London.
According to the Daily Mail, the current lineup of the Rolling Stones (lead singer Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood) will attend the party, and so will former Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman (who was in the band from 1962 to 1992) and former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor (who was in the band from 1969 to 1974).
The Daily Mail reports: "They will pose on a red carpet for photographers, then stride inside to reminisce about their five decades of concerts, recording sessions, girls — and all that nefarious confectionery described in glorious detail in Keith’s sublime memoir 'Life.'"
In a June 2012 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Richards had hinted that the party would happen.
The current members of the Rolling Stones have not been seen at a public event together since 2008, when they attended premieres and media events in Berlin, New York City and London to promote the Rolling Stones concert movie "Shine a Light."
In May 2012, the current members of the band gathered to make a short YouTube video in which they thanked their fans for the Rolling Stones' official Facebook page reaching 10 million "likes."
Of course, there is speculation that the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary party will include a performance by the current members of the Rolling Stones. And if Wyman and Taylor are a part of the performance, it would be the first time that all of the current members of the Rolling Stones have done a live performance with Wyman and Taylor.
The Rolling Stones have not done a live performance in public since 2007, at the end of the band's tour for "A Bigger Bang."
Several people who have worked with the Rolling Stones over the years will also be at the 50th anniversary party, although the full guest list has not been disclosed to the public.
And there will probably be surprise guests at the party, whose location in London has not been publicly revealed. However, the Daily Mail says the event will likely be at Somerset House, where a gala preview will be held for the photo exhibit "The Rolling Stones: 50," which features images from the official Rolling Stones photo book of the same name.
But don't expect a new album and tour from the Rolling Stones anytime soon. The band has already announced that there won't be a 50th anniversary tour in 2012. And even though Richards hinted that the band might tour and might have an album of new songs in 2013, those plans look doubtful, according to Watts.
In a July 2012 interview with the Associated Press, Watts was asked if the Rolling Stones were going to be working on a new album or tour for the 50th anniversary, and he replied: "No, just other things. Fifty years of things. A documentary, well, they haven't approved it yet. I haven't seen it, but we worked on that earlier this year. Books and things like that. There will be other things that the 50 years mean. And touring, we haven't gotten that far. We're still talking about the color of the back page of the book, so we'll see what happens."
The official Rolling Stones 50th anniversary documentary's title and release date are to be announced, but the band has said that the movie is due out in cinemas in September 2012 for a limited time. (Brett Morgen directed the film.) Eagle Rock Entertainment will release the movie on DVD and Blu-ray in October or November 2012, on a date to be announced.
