Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards have given fans a video tour of the "Rolling Stones: 50" photo exhibit at Somerset House in London. The exhibit (which is open to the public from July 13 to August 27, 2012) features pictures of the Rolling Stones throughout the band's 50-year career.
The photos in the exhibit are also in the official Rolling Stones 50th anniversary book that is also titled "Rolling Stones: 50."
In the video tour (which was posted on the Rolling Stones' official YouTube channel), Jagger and Richards comment on some of the photos in the exhibit and what they remember about the events captured in the photos.

Among the things that Jagger and Richards reminisce about are the Rolling Stones' first trip to New York City in 1964, filming the 1968 all-star TV special "The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus," and the Rolling Stones' 2006 performance at the Super Bowl.
As previously reported, the current members of the Rolling Stones (Jagger, Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood) attended the "Rolling Stones: 50" exhibit opening party in London on July 12, 2012. Former Rolling Stones members Bill Wyman (bass) and Mick Taylor (guitar) were also at the event.

The 'Paint it Black' drummer didn't bother to cast his eyes over the guitarist's autobiography - which caused controversy when it was published because Keith mocked singer Sir Mick Jagger for having a small penis in its pages - as he saw most of the incidents described first hand.
He said: ''I don't have to [read it]. I know him. He very kindly sent me a signed copy because I love signed books - I collect them - but it wasn't for me.''
Keith upset his bandmate Mick when he released his autobiography 'Life' by claiming in the book his ex-girlfriend Marianne Faithfull had ''no fun'' with Mick in bed because the frontman has a ''tiny'' penis.
After he had completed the tome, the 68-year-old musician admitted he had found out he was ''much meaner than he thought'' when he started writing it.
Keith said: ''I learned that I'm a much meaner b*****d than I'd thought. But at the same time I realized how much friendship meant to me, and how much my friendship had meant to other people, which I hadn't thought about before.
''It is the rock 'n' roll life and you had to invent it as you went along. There was no textbook to say how you operate this machinery. You didn't know you were always walking on the edge of disasters, and there was no one to turn to and say, 'How do you feel?' because no one had been there before.''

The drummer spends so much time with his bandmates - Ronnie, Keith Richards and Sir Mick Jagger - when they stage huge worldwide tours, he doesn't want to spend any more time with them after they have finished.
He said: ''The tours are two years long, so I'm living with Ronnie Wood for all that time, so I don't need to see him for another two years.''
Charlie added in the band's 60s heyday they had a much more hectic schedule, and would spend even more time together, but didn't mind being photographed all the time as they were more youthful.
He told Classic Rock magazine: ''In the mid 60s the tours would be a trip around England, then a trip around America, then recording in America back to Europe, England to America. You were living together the whole time, you'd get a month off at the most. You were younger though. And also, you were more photogenic, to be honest. I don't think Keith would want you photographing him at two in the morning now.''

She said: ''My parents have influenced my fashion choices. I inherited many of their older garments and I like their style. I love my mother's elegant and dramatic couture dresses and the feeling for colour my father has.''
One thing she was taught by her parents was never to dress older than she is and she says it's a rule she still follows now.
Giving her tips to Germany's Glamour magazine: ''Never dress older than you are! The five wardrobe items you must have are a nice pair of well-fitting shoes, pajamas, sexy yet comfortable lingerie, a party dress in a bold colour and a jumpsuit.

On July 12, 1962 something monumental happened. A band calling themselves the Rolling Stones took to the stage for the first time. You can see a press announcement for that gig right here.
The venue was the famed Marquee club in London. At the time, the band consisted of Mick Jagger on vocals, Brian Jones and Keith Richards on guitars, pianist Ian Stewart, bass player Dick Taylor and drummer Mick Avory. Jones was using the stage name of Elmo Lewis in the very early days. Taylor would soon depart to form another blistering London-based R&B combo called the Pretty Things, and Avory would join the Kinks.
Among the songs the Stones, under the name the Rollin’ Stones (no G)  for that first night out,  performed during that first gig were Jimmy Reed’s ‘Bright Lights Big City,’ Chuck Berry’s ‘Back In The USA’ and ‘Kansas City’ by Wilbert Harrison.
Bill Wyman would join their ranks by year’s end and Charlie Watts would occupy the drum throne by the start of 1963, giving the world the Rolling Stones we all knew and loved — at least, until Jones became a rock and roll casualty.

Rolling Stones deny that they are rehearsing in Paris for a concert

The Rolling Stones have denied a Paris Match story that reported that the band has been rehearsing with former Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman at Studio de la Grande Armée in Paris for a possible concert at the Olympia Theatre. On July 22, 2012, this statement was posted on the Rolling Stones' official Twitter account: "Hey fans, the Paris Match story is a fabrication. The band are NOT rehearsing @ Studio de la Grande Armée &have no plans to play the Olympia." The Rolling Stones' U.S. publicist also told me that the Paris Match story is false.
The Paris Match story had claimed that the current lineup of the Rolling Stones (lead singer Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood), Wyman, and the band's regular backup musicians and backup vocalists had gathered for rehearsals in Paris during the week of July 16, 2012. The false story also claimed that on July 24, 2012, the Rolling Stones would decide whether or not to perform at the famed Olympia Theatre, and that the theatre had been reserved for the Rolling Stones on July 29, 2012.
The Rolling Stones have not done a concert since 2007, at the end of the tour for "A Bigger Bang."
In late April/early May 2012, the Rolling Stones rehearsed in the New York City area, with longtime Rolling Stones producer Don Was filling in for bass player Darryl Jones, who was touring in Europe. Those rehearsals were filmed for the official Rolling Stones 50th anniversary documentary movie directed by Brett Morgen. The movie's title and release date are to be announced, but it has already been announced that the film should be in cinemas for a limited time in September 2012. Eagle Rock Entertainment will release the movie on DVD and Blu-ray in October or November 2012.
As previously reported, Jagger told the London Evening Standard at the "Rolling Stones: 50" exhibit opening party in London on July 12, 2012, that the Rolling Stones will do 50th anniversary concerts in the autumn of 2012. Further details about the concerts are to be announced.
Since the Rolling Stones have already announced that they will not do a full-scale tour in 2012, there is speculation that there will only be a few Rolling Stones concerts this year that will take place in major international cities. Richards told Rolling Stone magazine in Mach 2012 interview that it is possible that the Rolling Stones will do a full-scale tour in 2013.
In December 2011, Wyman and former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor did jam sessions in London with the current lineup of the Rolling Stones. These sessions will also reportedly be in the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary movie.
Wyman and Taylor also attended the "Rolling Stones: 50" party on July 12, 2012. All of the current members of the Rolling Stones were at the party.

Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards Says Fingers Help With Memory

The Rolling Stones are now enjoying their 50th year as a band, which is a long time for any group of musicians, so it should come as no surprise that with his age advancing that guitarist Keith Richards is getting a bit forgetful.
The legendary rocker told Absolute Radio that there are times during the first few bars of a song that he forgets how the rest of the track will go. But luckily, muscle memory takes over. He explains, “The fingers remember even if you don’t. I don’t practice as much as I should, probably. But now that we’re putting the act together again, I’m getting the chops back together.”
Speaking of “putting the act together again,” though full details have yet to be revealed on an extended trek, singer Mick Jagger did reveal last week that he expected the Rolling Stones to perform again sometime “this autumn.”
The group have spent time working together in the studio on a couple of occasions this year, and their past work in the spring was reportedly filmed for an upcoming documentary.

The Rolling Stones limited-edition Suntory whiskey goes on sale October 30 — and when they say “limited-edition,” they’re not kidding. On July 12, 2012 — exactly 50 years after the Rolling Stones played their first show — the current lineup of the Rolling Stones attended their first public event together since 2008. As previously reported, the occasion (held at Somerset House in London) was to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary at the opening of an exhibit featuring photos from the "Rolling Stones: 50," the official Rolling Stones 50th anniversary book.
The Rolling Stones' first performance was on July 12, 1962, at the Marquee nightclub in London.

At the 50th anniversary party at Somerset House, Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger (lead vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums) and Ronnie Wood (guitar) posed for photos together before heading inside the venue. Jagger and Richards did brief interviews with a few of the media outlets at the event. In general though, the only access to the Rolling Stones that most of the assembled media had was taking photos and video footage of the band.

Former Rolling Stones members Bill Wyman (bass) and Mick Taylor (guitar) were also the party. Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall, who works with Wood as the lead singer of the revamped lineup of the Faces, was also in attendance.
The exhibit "Rolling Stones: 50" at Somerset House is open to the public from July 13 to August 27, 2012.
The current lineup of the Rolling Stones previously gathered at a public event in 2008, when the band attended premieres and press conferences in Berlin, New York City and London to promote the Rolling Stones concert documentary "Shine a Light."
There has been much speculation that the Rolling Stones will perform at least one 50th anniversary show in 2012, but the band has not announced anything yet.

The 68-year-old guitarist - who has a history of drinking and taking drugs - admits he has a hard time remembering the notes for classic songs such as 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' and 'Satisfaction'.
However, as soon as he gets on stage he says his fingers take over and he always manages to perform.
He told Absolute Radio: ''When you kick off a song you say, 'I can't remember how the middle bit goes', but the fingers remember even if you don't.
''I don't practise as much as I should, probably. But now that we're putting the act together again I'm getting the chops back together.''
The band - which also includes Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts - recently announced plans to mark their 50th anniversary next year and are currently in rehearsals and Keith is keen for the celebrations as some of his memories of certain times with the group are blurred.
He said: ''The middle's a bit blurry but the beginning's pretty clear, and so is now. I mean, a lot of things are clear but they're not necessarily in the right order.''

The Rolling Stones have announced that they won't do a full-scale 50th anniversary tour in 2012, but lead singer Mick Jagger has now confirmed that there will be a select number of Rolling Stones 50th anniversary concerts in the autumn of 2012. As previously reported, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood hinted at this possibility back in a May 2012 article published by The Sun. Further details about the concerts are to be announced.
At the "Rolling Stones: 50" exhibit opening party in London on July 12, 2012, the London Evening Standard asked Jagger when the Rolling Stones will perform next. The London Evening Standard reports that Jagger replied with a wink, "In the autumn ...You will definitely be seeing us all together soon. It's been great fun being back together and there are a lot of memories in here. I can't believe it's been 50 years. We've been hanging out together, seeing quite a bit of each other and we want to do some gigs."
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards said of the "Rolling Stones: 50" exhibit: "This is like walking into a room full of memories. It's great being back with the guys, but I can't tell you
anything about any shows. My lips are sealed."
Jagger also commented on why the Rolling Stones turned down an invitation to perform at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London: "We haven't played in a long time and we weren't really stage ready. It's a very big gig and it's very risk taking. I didn't think the band felt they were really ready to do it at this point."

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has several homes around the world, and he has described his Caribbean home in Turks and Caicos' Parrot Cay as his most blissful retreat. Several members of his immediate family have now come forward to share details with Vogue about what it's like at Richards family gatherings in Turks and Caicos.
Famed photographer Bruce Weber took a photo of the Richards clan (Keith; his wife, Patti; Keith's four children, Marlon, Angela, Theodora and Alexandra; Lucie de la Falaise and Graham Whitney; the spouses of Keith's two eldest children; and Keith's four grandchildren, Ella Rose, Orson, Ida and Ava) that accompanies the article.
Here is an excerpt from the article:

"A typical day begins around 7:00 a.m. with the group busy preparing breakfasts— avocado and tomato on toast for Ella, French toast for Orson and Theodora — everyone already in bathing suits and raring to head down to the beach. The dress code is relaxed, to the extreme. “My sister is topless all the time,” laments Alexandra. “She has the long hair to cover herself, but I’m like, ‘Come on, Theo, it’s just too early!’
While Alexandra, Theodora, and Ella play tennis or badminton, Angela and her partner, Graham Whitney, may take the younger kids sailing on the Sunfish; Patti and Lucie might do yoga or get a massage. Keith likes to spend time with his grandchildren. Patti says he has “grown into” the babies but that “he really loves when he can chat with the kids and introduce them to books and reading.” As for game time, Patti wins at Scrabble, and Keith is the reigning dominoes champion— though Orson has been threatening his grandfather’s winning streak. 'He’s been killing it lately!' says Alexandra."

Parrot Cay is also where Keith happened to meet up with Paul McCartney in 2006, when they wrote a song together that was never released. Keith described the encounter in his 2010 memoir, "Life," but he did not say if he and McCartney ever completed or recorded the song. He also did not mention if the song had a title.

The band lined up outside the Marquee Club London, where they played their first show on July 12, 1962, and posed for this shot. Of course, the lineup has changed substantially since then — Brian Jones, Dick Taylor, Ian Stewart, and Mick Avory were all with the band for that first gig — but it’s still a cool way to celebrate a unique milestone.
The photo serves as a precursor to ‘Rolling Stones 50,’ the new book of “superb reportage photography, contact sheets, negative strips, outtakes and so much more, from every period in the band’s history,” as a press release puts it, as well as a photo exhibit that’s scheduled to run at London’s Somerset House over the summer.
Later in the year, the band plans to unveil a new documentary from director Brett Morgen (‘The Kid Stays in the Picture’), which Morgen promises “will defy convention and create a sonic tapestry to transport viewers into the world of the Rolling Stones” and “deliver the original, bold, sexy and dangerous flavor of the iconic rock band.”

Keith Richards has confirmed the Rolling Stones have started rehearsing again and he admits it feels ''so good'' to be back with his fellow band members.

The '(I Can't get No) Satisfaction' group - who are also made up of singer Sir Mick Jagger, guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Charlie Watts - have returned to the studio for sessions ahead of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
While Keith was reluctant to confirm whether or not the band will go on tour to celebrate the milestone, he admitted being back in the studio with his fellow band members has felt ''so good''.
He told the BBC: ''There's things in the works - I think it's definitely happening, But when? I can't say yet.
''We're playing around with the idea [of a tour] and had a couple of rehearsals - we've got together and it feels so good.''
The group played their first ever gig at London's Marquee Club exactly 50 years ago tomorrow (12.07.12) on July 12, 1962.
Earlier this year, Ronnie was overheard in New York talking about the band entering the studio again, saying Mick and Keith were going to ''play around with some ideas in the studio next week''.
The Rolling Stones are expected to celebrate their 50th anniversary with a tour next year, and Keith recently admitted 2013 is a ''more realistic'' timeframe that for the group to take to the stage again.

Ronnie Wood's ex-wife Jo is keeping her upcoming autobiography a secret from the Rolling Stones rocker.
The couple split in 2008 after 24 years of marriage following his affair with Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.
Their divorce was finalised in 2011, and now Jo Wood, who has two children with the guitarist, is preparing to lift the lid on her life with the musician in a tell-all tome.
Despite the book being almost completed, Jo admits she has failed to warn her former husband about the memoir.
She tells Britain's Daily Mail, "I've just finished writing my autobiography. I haven't told Ronnie about it. It kind of slipped my mind! I saw him the other day, and I thought "Oh no, I can't tell him now". I might wait for him to find out in another way! No, I should tell him. I will tell him soon.
"I found a great ghostwriter who I absolutely adore and we've had a look of fun writing it. It's very funny actually. I've got lots of funny stories you see! I really enjoyed doing it."

Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood's radio show has been honoured with two trophies at a top U.K. broadcasting awards ceremony.
The guitarist won the specialist programme of the year award for The Ronnie Wood Show at the 17th annual Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards in London on Wednesday (04Jul12).
Wood's weekly guest slot on his Absolute Radio show was named best feature at the ceremony, held by RadioCentre, the industry body for commercial radio.
RadioCentre's Chief Executive Officer Andrew Harrison says, "The standard of entries this year was particularly high, demonstrating once again that commercial radio remains in rude health."
Other big winners included singer Jessie J, who scooped the best breakthrough prize, and chart-topper Adele, who was crowned the most played artist on commercial radio, an honour won by pop group Take That for the previous four years.

Rolling Stones 50th anniversary party confirmed with past & present band members

It's official: The Rolling Stones are having their 50th anniversary party in London on July 12, 2012. The date is significant because the Rolling Stones' first live show was on July 12, 1962, at the Marquee Club in London.
According to the Daily Mail, the current lineup of the Rolling Stones (lead singer Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Wood) will attend the party, and so will former Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman (who was in the band from 1962 to 1992) and former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor (who was in the band from 1969 to 1974).
The Daily Mail reports: "They will pose on a red carpet for photographers, then stride inside to reminisce about their five decades of concerts, recording sessions, girls — and all that nefarious confectionery described in glorious detail in Keith’s sublime memoir 'Life.'"
In a June 2012 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Richards had hinted that the party would happen.
The current members of the Rolling Stones have not been seen at a public event together since 2008, when they attended premieres and media events in Berlin, New York City and London to promote the Rolling Stones concert movie "Shine a Light."
In May 2012, the current members of the band gathered to make a short YouTube video in which they thanked their fans for the Rolling Stones' official Facebook page reaching 10 million "likes."
Of course, there is speculation that the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary party will include a performance by the current members of the Rolling Stones. And if Wyman and Taylor are a part of the performance, it would be the first time that all of the current members of the Rolling Stones have done a live performance with Wyman and Taylor.
The Rolling Stones have not done a live performance in public since 2007, at the end of the band's tour for "A Bigger Bang."
Several people who have worked with the Rolling Stones over the years will also be at the 50th anniversary party, although the full guest list has not been disclosed to the public.
And there will probably be surprise guests at the party, whose location in London has not been publicly revealed. However, the Daily Mail says the event will likely be at Somerset House, where a gala preview will be held for the photo exhibit "The Rolling Stones: 50," which features images from the official Rolling Stones photo book of the same name.
But don't expect a new album and tour from the Rolling Stones anytime soon. The band has already announced that there won't be a 50th anniversary tour in 2012. And even though Richards hinted that the band might tour and might have an album of new songs in 2013, those plans look doubtful, according to Watts.
In a July 2012 interview with the Associated Press, Watts was asked if the Rolling Stones were going to be working on a new album or tour for the 50th anniversary, and he replied: "No, just other things. Fifty years of things. A documentary, well, they haven't approved it yet. I haven't seen it, but we worked on that earlier this year. Books and things like that. There will be other things that the 50 years mean. And touring, we haven't gotten that far. We're still talking about the color of the back page of the book, so we'll see what happens."
The official Rolling Stones 50th anniversary documentary's title and release date are to be announced, but the band has said that the movie is due out in cinemas in September 2012 for a limited time. (Brett Morgen directed the film.) Eagle Rock Entertainment will release the movie on DVD and Blu-ray in October or November 2012, on a date to be announced.
