Rolling Stones ranked No. 1 in Billboard list of top live acts from 1990 to 2014...

In a 24-year period, the Rolling Stones have grossed more than $1.6 billion in ticket sales and are ranked No. 1 in Billboard's list of the Top 25 live acts from 1990 to 2014. Billboard made the announcement on May 27, 2014.
From 1990 to May 2014, the Rolling Stones have grossed $1,565,792,382 in ticket sales from 538 concerts, with attending totaling 19,677,569, according to Billboard.
U2 was ranked close behind at No. 2 (with $1,514,979,793 in ticket sales), while Bruce Springsteen held down the No. 3 spot, with $1,196,116,507 in ticket sales. (See the full list below.)
The No. 1 ranking for the Stones should come as no surprise to longtime fans, since the band has often had the top-grossing tour of the year almost every time that the Stones have toured for the past few decades.
The Rolling Stones are currently on their "14 on Fire" tour, which goes to Asia, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. (See the tour dates below.)
In the 1980s and 1990s, the Rolling Stones toured in stadiums. In the 2000s and 2010s, the Rolling Stones have scaled back and toured in arenas. However, their ticket prices continue to rise. And even though many fans complain about the ticket prices, Rolling Stones tours always sell out.
During the Rolling Stones' "50 and Counting" anniversary tour 2013, U.S. ticket prices ranged from $85 for a basic ticket to about $2,500 for a VIP ticket package. Most of the tickets for that tour's U.S. concerts were priced at $150 to $600 each. To ensure that some fans get a chance at seating in front rows with the lowest-priced tickets, the Rolling Stones have randomly allocated some of their lowest-priced tickets to have seating in the front.

The Rolling Stones - Rock In Rio Lisboa 2014

Bill Wyman’s Monkey Grip – 40 years ago this month ...

monkey-gripMonkey Grip is a tremendous fanfare entry for a debut album – especially as Bill was part of the Rolling Stones, but it marked a significant extension to his range of output.
For his 1974 solo debut, Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman amassed a band full of heavy friends, among them Leon Russell, Lowell George, Dr John and Danny Kootch.
But the real star was Bill Wyman himself, with his songwriting talents unleashed for the first time to prove that there were more than two great composers in the Rolling Stones’ line-up. Single mixes and studio leftovers ensure that this is the definitive version of this album.
Recorded while he was still very much a member of the Rolling Stones, Monkey Grip was bassist Bill Wyman’s first solo album. Released in May 1974, it was recorded with a star-studded session band that included names like Lowell George, Dr John, Leon Russell, Danny Kortchmar, and Dallas Taylor.

Bruce Springsteen gave Portuguese rock fans real value for money on Thursday night (29May14) when he joined the Rolling Stones onstage in Lisbon.
The Boss hit the stage to perform Tumbling DICe with Mick Jagger and his bandmates during their headlining set at the Rockin’ Rio Lisboa festival.
It seems Springsteen is a fan of the tune - he joined the Stones onstage to perform Tumblin' DICe during the band's 50th anniversary dates at the end of 2012.
The Lisbon gig is the second on the band's resumed 14 on Fire tour, which was halted in March (14) following the death of Jagger's designer girlfriend L'Wren Scott.
